Shots like this are not my usual fare (bad pun intended) but when I saw this sitting there I just had to get the camera out. Does it work? I know some folks really get into shooting food, but I just haven't really tried it yet. It's another item to add to the list of things to learn how to shoot. Boy, that list seems to just be growing...

BOOK END FRIENDS- A book is worth a thousand pictures! This project is made using a Verna charm pack. It also has linen, a few scraps for "pictures" and embroidery. The buckle holds the books tight, and the strap is adjustable depending on the width of books to hold. There are wood 2x8's in the book ends themselves to hold them sturdy. The front is backed with batting and quilted with loops. The strap is fused with Thermolam fleece.

I cut the pear in two by slicing it ALONG the core. For each half, I make two cuts around the core and slice up each section into bite-sized pieces. I nibble around the core and discard it, and then cut up the other half. Here you see half a pear, a big piece cut from around the core, and the other big piece being sliced up. I eat about a fourth of the pear now and put the other pieces into my fruit mix.

A slice of two-layer vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. Pink icing flower and dots.
Made from felt, embroidery thread, and polyfill. Pink dots are french knots. I use this slice of cake as a pin cushion.
When I'm running out of time, I peel and gobble down a banana like everybody else, but I prefer to have a variety of fruit. I simply peel off the skin, slice up one or two of them, and add the slices to my fruit mix minus my "today's" share.
About a third of the building gone now, be interesting to see what is going to happen to this quay, it is one of the oldest structures left in the harbour, and I guess is in need of some work.

Kimbo Slice walks the plank for his Mixed Martial Arts fight with former Heavyweight Champ Ray Mercer June 23 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
I bought a (now rare) can of Dr. Slice from sodafinder.com, and you know....I didn't like it. The only soda I got that I didn't like.Dr. Slice was made by Pepsi in areas where Coke bottled Dr. Pepper. (since Pepsi bottles Dr. Pepper, we never got Dr. Slice Hampton Roads) But in 2005, all the Slice flavors were killed off by Pepsi for the Tropicana Twister line. I heard that most places that used to get Dr. Slice now gets Cheerwine.
Sigh... I had such high hopes for this strawberry-lemon marbled pound cake, but it was not to be. Smells awesome, tastes fine (apparently) but looks hideous.

One more story about Trumpeter #126. That day he was chased by a Mute Swan twice and both times he flew to me, jumped out on the shore and hid behind my back, while the Mute Swan stayed in the water.
He reminded me of a child hiding behind his Mom's back - "Nya Nya Nya Nya Nya Nya, you can't touch me!" It was so funny! When the Mute Swan left, #126 looked at me with his beautiful bright eyes and for some reason I remembered that I had a slice of bread in my bag, so I reached into my bag and he tried to stick his head inside the bag.
Finally I got it and gave him a piece and he pinched my finger very gently, then he followed me around until I said that I have nothing and showed him my empty hands. He left me alone after that.
