Day 3 - Mystery Event Level 2. The Level 2 Mystery Event of the 2014 USARPAC Warrior Challenge featured was held at the Medical Simulation Training Center. Events included evaluating a casualty, performing first aid to an extremity, performing first aid in an open abdominal wound and a 9-line MEDEVAC request. The event included an outdoor trauma lane as well as an indoor blood trauma lane. Competitors had to perform tactical medical care in an outdoor environment, as well as treating casualties in an indoor environment with combat sound effects, thus creating a stressful environment. A new Shuttle Fleet scenario was released today on Orbithangar.com, simulating the use of the shuttles extended robotic arm to place an astronaut in position to repair the damaged tile on the shuttle's underside. Closeup view of astronaut being moved toward the repair point.

Some shots from Star Citizen
Arena Commander v1.1 unlocked more ships to test drive for only a few days.
The Gladius is an older design which has been updated over the years to keep up with modern technology. In military circles, the Gladius is beloved for its performance and its simplicity. A fast, light fighter with a laser-focus on dogfighting, the Gladius is an ideal interceptor or escort ship.
Star Citizen is an ambitious crowd funded open world space simulation project from Chris Roberts (Wing Commander, Freelancer).

The IU Kokomo School of Nursing and School of Education, in conjunction with Second Harvest, hosted a poverty simulation in which students try to live for in poverty for one month, condensed into an hour for the simulation. Various scenarios are assigned ranging from a single parent of 5 kids to a single person with no job and no home.

It'll be Giselle's birthday soon so I bought me a present. Wait, what? haha.
I've been wanting to get one of these simulation rigs for a long ass time, it's just that I could never afford it. But luck was on my side today and I ended up going home with a Playseat Evo and a Logitech G27. I also picked up another 40" TV to complete my "driver's training tool" or otherwise known as my personal arcade. It'll be what my winter activity this year while my friends are out snowboarding and all that other shenanigans.
I'll be moving furniture in my already tight room to accommodate these things so I'll have some work to do. As it sits right now, I have my old 40" TV which is wall mounted so it doesn't take up space, but I have my Xbox, PS3 and Wii on a table underneath it. One one corner sits where I'm typing now which is my workstation. I'll just have to make it work somehow.
This truck allowed students to experience a simulated earthquake. There were lots of cameras and news crews around too.
Wilde and NAMTEC hosted a one-day awareness seminar on “Improving Design by Simulation: The Benefits of ANSYS to Industry”
The seminar held at NAMTEC on 16th October 2008 was a “resounding success” said David Deakin, Managing Director of Wilde.
Hosted by Wilde in conjunction with NAMTEC, seminar focused on the success companies have gained from the ANSYS range of CAD-integrated structural, thermal and computational fluid dynamics programs, both in-house and through the use of consultants.
More than 95% of delegates were satisfied with the event and found it “enjoyable, relevant and beneficial”.
These are reference images I'm using to test my new Velvia 100 RVP Film Simulation presets.
It's pretty well nailed down. With DMAX increases to Greens and Reds, and careful attention to how Velvia F used to make Reds orange and Yellows green, I made the adjustsments to reflect with known parameters of Velvia 100 RVP.
Like RVP, lighting conditions, exposures and subjects work differently with this simulation, but I used this reference set of 16 images to really stress test the preset.
In some cases, only two of the sliders need to be adjusted to suit the shooting conditions which are Exposure and White settings.
White balance needs to be adjusted manually. RVP tends to have a coolish tendency to it's images (which kind of makes sense because projector lights tended to be warmer.
White balancing with this preset requires you find your optimal results and then pull back towards cool just a little bit.
