Faculty from the UTHealth School of Nursing held a personal protective equipment simulation for our anesthesiology students. This exercise was designed to replicate the guidelines health care workers must follow as they treat patients with Ebola.
In the framework of the National Model United Nations held in Azerbaijan on 20-23 February 2016, the simulation of the UN General Assembly on the case of strengthening of the UN system and reform of its main institutions was organised.
87 people participated in the simulation conference during four days. The sessions were moderated by Azer Abasaliyev and Turkan Mukhtarova. Two draft resolutions were submitted by the member states, one of which sponsored by Canada, Nigeria, France, United Arabic Emirates, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, the People's Republic of China, Netherlands, Indonesia and Belgium was adopted by a two-thirds majority. As the result of the game, the participants were awarded with certificates. For their outstanding contribution to the committee the following delegates were awarded at the closing ceremony.

STS-118 is scheduled to launch on August 7, and I'm planning to be in Florida for a NASA educational conference and to experience the launch. I'm using the latest version of the add-on "shuttle fleet" for the Orbiter space flight sim to experiment with this upcoming shuttle mission. This screen shot captures the solid rocket booster (SRB) separation, about 2 minutes after launch.

Simulation day at #CityCollegeFTL! We conducted a scenario involving a mass casualty situation with five victims, in which students from several programs participated. The results were outstanding! The medical assisting students came to the aide of one victim and called the EMS team to take over. The most severe patient was taken to the operating room for surgery, with the anesthesia and surgical technology students. Amazing work was done by our students.

This image, from the San Diego Supercomputer Center at UC San Diego, shows turbulent geophysical flows in the interstellar medium of galaxies. To get this one snapshot of the simulation required 4,096 processors running for two weeks, and resulted in 25 terabytes of data. Brightest regions represent highest density gas, compressed by a complex system of shocks in the turbulent flow. Dense filaments and cores, created in such a way by supersonic turbulent flows, are subject to massive gravitational collapse - and that leads to the birth of stars.
Claudia Kobald, OeWF Analog Astronaut Support
Claudia Kobald comes from a small town in Styria. She studied aviation engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Graz and is currently working as senior engineer at Tyrol Air Ambulance. Within the OeWF Claudia is engaged as analog astronaut support and in this role she ensured that during the training weekends the analog astronauts did their homework, gained some practice during the glove exercise, got breakfast after morning exercise, assisted during donning training and much more. For AMADEE-15 she helped the analog astronauts preparing for the mission. In her free time she enjoys hiking, volleyball and snowboarding. Claudia it’s great to have you on board and keep on the high spirits!
Claudia Kobald kommt aus einem kleinen Ort aus der Steiermark. Sie studierte Luftfahrtechnik an der FH Joanneum in Graz und arbeitet derzeit als Senior-Ingenieurin bei der Tyrol Air Ambulance. Beim ÖWF engagiert sich Claudia als Analog-Astronauten Support. In dieser Rolle stellte sie z.B. während der Trainingswochenenden sicher, dass die Analog-Astronauten ihre Hausaufgaben machten, Übungen mit den Handschuhen durchführten, Frühstück nach dem Morgen-Training bekamen, half beim Donning der Analog-Astronauten uvm. Für die AMADEE-15 Mars Simulation half sie den Analog-Astronauten sich gut für die bevorstehende Mars Analogmission vorzubereiten. In ihrer Freizeit geht sie gerne wandern, spielt Volleyball und im Winter sieht man sie beim Snowboarden.
