Nothing, nothing makes me yearn more for the simpler, warmer days way back when, than vintage quilts. Made with recycled fabrics before they were in, used for utilitarian purposes and not for decor, made by hand, and made with love.

Simplicity 2872 view B. I still have two more Rosettas to make before Halloween. This is done in satin, with tulle layers hidden beneath the underskirt. I used regular interfacing, rather than tulle as the pattern calls for, because I think regular interfacing is sturdier and more comfortable. The only reason I can think of for using tulle as interfacing is if using sheer fabric in the shoulders, which I did not use.
Simplicity 5571; ©1973; Misses' Unlined Jacket, Mini-Skirt and Pants: The top-stitched unlined jacket with front button closing has notched, rounded collar, long set-in sleeves gathered to armholes, patch pockets and back vent. The mini-skirt has waistband and back zipper. The pants have waistband, front zipper and turn-back cuffs.
I find the fabric suggestions here very interesting: Loud printed cotton paisleys and indiennes were the classic fabrics of choice for wrappers/housecoats in the mid-19th century. The orange dress is very nearly the sort of print one would have seen 80 years earlier.

Made using Simplicity 2975 and Nicey Jane fabric. Green is Kona Cotton, but I can't remember the name... The pattern ran a little small for me. Be sure and measure your hips before you cut into your fabric!
Made with the Blue Birds print. I love Geninne and the quality of Cloud 9 fabric. I'm really excited to wear this skirt this summer! Blogged at: esposetta.blogspot.com/2012/04/two-skirts.html.
