I made new versions of the front/back and sleeve pieces. All three pieces are shortened by half an inch in the armhole depth. The front and back are an inch longer below the armsceye.

Miss Simplicity was produced as an amateur theatrical for the Bank Officers Association at the Tremont Theatre in Boston in 1901. The musical comedy was built around Julian Eltinge (1881–1941) as the ingenue lead.
By the time the New York production was mounted, the show had been rewritten as a vehicle for comedian Frank Daniels (1856–1935) in a role not in the original production. (Eltinge remained in Boston, his role now assumed by a female player.) It toured extensively from September 1901 to February 1902, then played at the Casino Theatre from 10 February to 29 March 1902 for 56 performances before going on tour.
My cousin's daughter requested a satin nightgown. I knew pink with rainbows would be perfect for her. It is backed with soft, not too thick flannel - I got it at Joann's last year. I was a bit tricky doing a satin yoke but I am happy with how it turned out. Apparently it gets worn every night.

Simplicity 2132; ©1947; Misses' and Women's Blouse: The blouse, styled with a forward shoulder seam, has outside tucks at either side of the front-button closing. Style I has a pointed collar, ribbon tie and bishop sleeves with a turned-back cuff. In Style II, the three-quarter sleeves are gathered at the lower edge and finished with a cuff. A Peter Pan collar enhances the neck edge. In Style III, the neck edge is made with bias binding which extends to form tie ends. The short sleeve boasts a tuck accented with stitching.
Pattern: Simplicity 2444
Fabric: Tessuti remnant

Neckline is too wide. I plan to re-draft bodice pattern and bring neckline in 1.3cm on each side.
Russ Miles and David Dawson came to Skills Matter and gave a one day workshop on how to inject simplicity in software. Working in teams, delegates created their code to navigate a real world AR drone (without crashing it!), learning how to break down a problem and tradeoff for the right values in Architecture, Design and Code. How to create the right number of tests to build the right level of confidence and how to enable Real Application Agility through Simplicity.

I really wanted DuBarry 2335B, but DuBarrys are rarer and I'll probably die of old age before I find another one. I didn't buy the one I saw originally because it was too small, but now I'm braver and more determined to learn pattern grading.
This one has a less interesting back bodice than the DuBarry, but maybe I can improvise that once I get going. The DuBarry also has a fuller skirt and an attributed date of 1940, which suggests that this version is a couple of years earlier.

I make my own laundry soap, and every time I do I want to take a photo of the soap in the pot because I think it's so pretty. It smells so nice and it just makes me feel good.
I've realized lately why I photograph things the way I do. Why I prefer centered compositions and simple backgrounds, why I prefer macro to landscape, why I like clean, crisp color. It's because my mind is so opposite from those things. My mind is constantly cluttered with stress and worry. So when I bring the camera to my eye, I seek out the calm. I need it to feed my spirit. My photography is not a reflection of who I am. It's my way of organizing the world into something less threatening, forcing myself to be in the moment.
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

I've found myself thinking about that tie collar, so I figured what the heck? I sort of like the sleeve-cap style of the modeled version, and since this dates from 1980 the fit was much more slim and trim compared to later 80s linebacker shoulders.
(oh and also it was only a quarter.)
