Simplicity 1803 - OAL Outfit sewalong -Use a cotton stretch fabric of sorts, have no idea of the exact type! I changedthe skirt to a simple A-line with pockets from the pattern, now wish I'd made a pleated skirt as per Lauren's (Lladybird's) tutorial - constructed the skirt before the blog post as released

Posting pattern review and blog post shortly...
For now, this is a dress I have wanted to sew since last summer. Now it is too cold to wear it! Cynthia Rowley for Simplicity pattern 2584. The front slit is insanely low and I will prob. sew in a lace modesty panel for some... you know... modesty.
Here's the pattern review. And it's blogged here.
A simple macro shot of a flower, from certain wide angle, showing the full flat face of the flower....nothing but an eye-catching expression of simplicity in nature.
A few weeks ago I was browsing through several sewing blogs and here I found a nice jacket which was closed with a nice bow.
So I went through my sewing magazines and chose simplicity 6006 as pattern, just shorter (not a coat).
PTM Let's Do 52
Week 8
Theme: Simplicity
My 4-year-old has a tender side, and he loves stuffed animals, mostly puppies. Every few days it's a puppy's birthday. I am heavily pregnant and not feeling great, so I am not generally in a celebratory mood for a stuffed puppy's birthday. However, yesterday, I decided to make more of an effort. Amazing how a simple $1 package of crepe paper streamers can make a little boy's entire day. We made cards, strung up the decorations, and wrapped a couple of toys in newspaper. The result was the sweetest party ever, simple as it might have been. :)
Simplicity 9800; ©1971; Misses' Mini-Dress and Smock: The mini-dress with high round neckline has "dog ear" collar, back zipper and set-in sleeves. V. 1 has long sleeves gathered to snap fastened cuffs. V. 2 and 3 have short puff sleeves gathered to sleeve-bands. The top-stitched smock V. 1 and 2 with skirt gathered to lined bodice above normal waistline has lowered round neckline, patch pockets and front button closing.
The dress has the new narrow shoulder look. The shoulder length of the pattern is shorter and the head of the sleeve is higher.
Out of the archives is this beauty. I shot this in the summer of 2013. I knew I would need something beautiful to see to get me through these winter months.

Completed dress-front view. Excuse the washed out look. This was taken after work and I just did not feel like redoing make up and the like.

Although a relatively simple flower this plant has some interesting properties:
Tanacetum parthenium (feverfew) is a traditional medicinal herb which is commonly used to prevent migraine headaches, and is also occasionally grown for ornament. The plant grows into a small bush up to around 46 cm (18 in) high with citrus-scented leaves, and is covered by flowers reminiscent of daisies. It spreads rapidly, and they will cover a wide area after a few years. It is also commonly seen in the literature by its synonyms, Chrysanthemum parthenium and Pyrethrum parthenium. It is also sometimes referred to as bachelor's buttons or featherfew. (Wikipedia)
Russ Miles and David Dawson came to Skills Matter and gave a one day workshop on how to inject simplicity in software. Working in teams, delegates created their code to navigate a real world AR drone (without crashing it!), learning how to break down a problem and tradeoff for the right values in Architecture, Design and Code. How to create the right number of tests to build the right level of confidence and how to enable Real Application Agility through Simplicity.
You can see the SkillsCasts (film, code, slides) of the day at: skillsmatter.com/event-details/home/russ-miles-practical-...
I made this for the Inspiration Avenue Team's weekly creative challenge - the theme this week was "Simplicity".
Simplicity, I've found, does not come easily to me. I really really wanted to add colour/pattern/buttons/something! But I've managed to restrain myself. So far! :)
