Belt tied in back

~~~~~~~~
For the Simplicity 1880 2-in-1 Sewalong
www.afashionablestitch.com/tag/2-in-1-sewalong/
I made the wrap version, with the short sleeves and the belt.
The fabric is a cotton voile from Westminster Fibers, in a colorway that is ideal for someone with three black and white dogs.
I thought the fabric would be too sheer to wear without a slip or lining but it turns it's absolutely fine without, which is great. This a perfect summer dress.
This is Simplicity 3835, made with a Joel Dewberry quilting cotton print. Blogged here: stitchparade.com/the-sunshine-coast-dress/
with Jay McCarroll's Purple Drop Cloth from the Habitat collection.
To play like a child. Why is it the older that we get the more cynical we become. What once was so much fun, we now look down upon with contempt and indifference. All because it is too simple. We have this unquenchable thirst for complexity. I had my camera out while a groups of kids were running around having the time of their lives with bubble. Their squeals and shouts of joy were unmistakable from quite a ways off, and I couldn't resist the opportunity to grab some fun shots. It just reminded me how much we have conditioned ourselves to need complexity, newness, something big and better. In our quest to experience any and everything we have inadvertently sucked all the joys of our life that are not newer or more intricate.
Sometimes I wonder if our greatest blessings of wealth and sophisticated technology really are also curses un disguise. an interesting thought to ponder, maybe even a bit hypocritical as I ponder while I shoot with my newest piece of technology to take pictures with... hmmmm.
This cute "V" shaped neckline on this Fab jumper is such a great classic styling! This pattern includes the jumper and the cut dart-fitted blouse with a high neckline, set-in sleeves and front button closing, that can be made with a collar with pointed ends or collarless. The jumper can be belted or sashed with a self-fabric tie. The large pockets on the front of the jumper are just too cute!
Simplicity: And as we spent those last few moments of summer, looking out at the blending of sea and sky, I realized it was a color I knew very well. The softly faded, essential blue of a well worn pair of pants ... my favorite pair of soft, baggy jeans.
From the Summer 1971 issue of Simplicity fashion magazine
Simplicity 6195, copyright 1965. A very Jackie O/Mary Tyler Moore kind of dress. I really like the sleek lines.
Almost done! Thank you, Mimi, for an awesome experience! I've wanted to do this for some time. Look for me this spring/summer.... I'll be here sharing! A seamstress is born!
Actually a nice dress if you didn't overdo it on the ruffles. I like the yellow version.
Red calico?
I used Simplicity 2959 as a base pattern to make my wedding dress. I made a number of modifications and changes in the process but am very happy with the end result.
Ultimately, simplicity is the goal - in every art, and achieving simplicity is one of the hardest things to do. Yet it's easily the most essential. - Pete Turner, More Joy of Photography by Eastman Kodak
