Me-made 40s collarless shirtdress in green/black chambray (Simplicity 4037). This dress was back-burner for so long, just kind of limped along doing little bits and pieces randomly when I had an hour or two to kill, but I actually really, really like it! I thought it was going to be too house-dressy, but I think it wears really well. It was dreamy in the rain today, so glad I wore it!

Originally bought spectacular aubergine stable wool jersey for this, which I think would have been perfect, but I wrecked it trying to preshrink. I don't know if it was chemicals in the dye or some other process on the wool, but it was a total loss. If anyone knows anything special about pre-shrinking wool jersey, please let me know! I'm still tempted to go back for more; the fabric was that amazing. Except that then, would it just get wrecked the first time I tried to dry clean then too? Who knows.

This is my best example of simplicity. I really like the color of the shoes and the white background, and how the shoes are a little dirty and used. To create contrast my image, i lowered the exposure and contrast. I sharped the image so you can see the creases and the texture of the laces. I added a little saturation to give it more color. The vibe i was trying to create, was a childhood nostalgic, movie vibe.

Another take at Simplicity 2596, this time, I made View B.

The fabric is a very thin fabric with dots of fabric tufts on it. Is this known as Swiss Dots?

I wore it to work for casual Friday and nobody had any idea I made it myself (if yes, they were polite not to ask me about it)! Excuse the creases, it is afterall, after a day's wear :).

Two small sizes available.

"Je vous ai apporté des bonbons

Parce que les fleurs c'est périssable"

Jacques Brel

English :

"I brought you some candy

Because flowers are perishable"

This challenge brought this song to my head. It brought me back to the simplicity of my youth in the north of France, where Jacques Brel is the old fashion singer that everyone loves.

I wanted to be Gimp free but did not like my fingers, so I desaturated the picture a bit. Added a soft glow too. I am still looking for my style, for my balance.
