MISSES’ PLAY SHORTS, MIDRIFF TOP AND SKIRT:

A “Mother and Daughter Fashion”. For “Daughter” see Simplicity 1620. The shorts, styles with a side pocket, are gathered at upper edge and joined to a waist band. The lower edges are gathered and bound, and there is a small opening and ties into a bow. The midriff, gathered at the lower edge and joined to a band, has raglan sleeves and a neckline casing. The skirt is gathered to a waist band.

I decided to not do a waistband because I hate them. Also, I find that as weight goes up and down, it's more likely to fit without the waistband.

The important thing here? POCKETS!

I don't know why I like this shot but I do--I guess for its simplicity if nothing else.

2/52 Simplicity

I’m feeling a little drained this week so I opted for a simple portrait for this weekly project. And I keep having to remind myself that is okay. The purpose of this project is to exist in photos. They don’t always have to be extravagant and skillfully edited. Sometimes they can be simple. Stay tuned to see what’s in store for next week.

How is it that even a 7 year old gets soooo happy just with a few balloons. I need that simplicity in living.

I made the wrap version, with the short sleeves and the belt.

The fabric is a cotton voile from Westminster Fibers, in a colorway that is ideal for someone with three black and white dogs.

I thought the fabric would be too sheer to wear without a slip or lining but it turns it's absolutely fine without, which is great. This a perfect summer dress.

Make no mistake, simplicity can only be achieved with hard work.

My dress to wear to a wedding. It is fully lined!

Just simply a piece of string and yet we can do so much with it . Put away all the fancy gadgets . . . a piece of string works in the workshop, garden, and kitchen.

A bit different to my normal style of photography (whatever that might be). Shot at golden hour and you can see the sun shining on the pavement at top left.

I'm a sucker for light (aren't all photographers). Sometimes the subject can be simple, but as long as the light is right, simplicity is just fine! I liked the bright statement of the Anthurium flowers in the red vase in an image otherwise desaturated by light. I don't reach for the little Voigtländer 40mm f/2 lens very often, but it often produces very nice results when I do. my fave. the crust this visit was much better. light, crispy, crackly, but still exhibiting the silverton-signature structure. the briny and lemony anchovies provided a great flavor burst to compliment the simplicity of the tomato-sauced pizza.
