"Tucked away. Almost forgot. Life is lived beyond anyone's thought. At the foot of the hills where simplicity dwells. Live is lived, and it's lived well."

For the Simplicity 1880 2-in-1 Sewalong
www.afashionablestitch.com/tag/2-in-1-sewalong/
I made the wrap version, with the short sleeves and the belt.
The fabric is a cotton voile from Westminster Fibers, in a colorway that is ideal for someone with three black and white dogs.
I thought the fabric would be too sheer to wear without a slip or lining but it turns it's absolutely fine without, which is great. This a perfect summer dress.
Theme: Vision and Blur. Pretty much plagiarized Kim's image, but I don't think she'll mind :)
Kim Klassen's Simplicity texture, overlay, 66%. Also used Kim's dodge trick to darken the edges a tad.
TGIF Everyone!!!
Simplicity. Just a girl standing next to a small pine. Somewhere in the harsh wilderness of Iceland.

Trying to capture falling feathers - not very simple! The quote is apt.
Note to self: Think of something more simple next time!

Ps: sorry for dumping in early (officaly 39 mins). I'm away for a few days.
This was from our first night in WA. The beach was just couple of minutes walk from the Coogee holiday park we were staying that night.
We were just sitting on the beach, enjoying the first sunset in the west, occasionaly clicking the button on our cameras
I wish I could go back .-)
sorry to be so headless, still figuring out the good/easy self photo spot in the new place.

This is the second version of this dress I have made - this one is made with fabric bought at Scarborough Sewing Centre and it's called Brooklyn Heights and is designed by Kitty Yoshida. Scarborough sewing centre sell a range of quilting cottons but this is a lighter cotton more suited to dressmaking.
I'm wearing the dress with grey tights (to match the weather!) and Irregular Choice shoes.
Simplicity if the ultimate form of sophistication.

Low key photography with Canon 430ex ii to the camera right.
A simple pleasure - the Cigar. Although it's not so simple to keep the right humidity in the Humidor. I'm keeping a stock of dried up expensive Cigars - at least useful for starting a fire.
It's also an effort to make a simple and elegant design on the label - which I have designed for a Friend.

Is it me or what? Things that land in the realm of simplicity are supposed to be simple! Right? Take today’s assignment for example. It was SUPPOSED to be simple. I wanted to do a simple portrait using minimal tools. Yea, well, after a moment of mild frustration (y’all remember Yosemite Sam – the cartoon character when he would get frustrated? That dude was straight cussin’ in the cartoons!); I did my Yosemite Sam impersonation today trying to pull off this assignment.
Simplicity is complicated. So many things have to be in alignment for simple to happen. But when it does [get in alignment] oh!, what a wonderful thing. I think those old cats had the right I idea (I’m thinking about the ones in the karate movies I used to watch) where they say something like, “one must be at peace with one’s self”. My simplicity is compounded and becomes complex when I am not in alignment with me. Am I doing purpose? Where is my dream? How many excuses have I made or who else will I blame because I don’t have peace. Einstein said something like this: genius is making simple that which is complex [my paraphrase]. I want to be a genius!
Since I’m complicated and your complicated let us work toward simplicity. Here it is – the key: life is going to happen – good or bad – without any effort on our part. So let it do what it do. As for me and my house, we gone make memories, cherish the moments and keep it [uh] simple.
Photography has taught me to look towards the simple things of my life..to look at smallest thing..to look with a different angle.

This image is for Kim Klassen's Be Still 52 Week 4. Kim introduced us to the concept of wabi sabi, which I'd never heard of before. Characteristics of the wabi-sabi aesthetic include asymmetry, asperity (roughness or irregularity), simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy, and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes. I chose to photograph these orchid blooms for a touch of the oriental influence in a soft simplistic manner to express one of the characteristics of wabi sabi. I have a new-found and great appreciation for wabi sabi.
