Mom made me this to wear to a friend's mom's wedding. It was in the mountains, though, so I had to wear hiking boots with it instead of girly shoes. Now, I'd be all over that, but I was mad at the time.

Fetos? Credo canhoto! Planta de carraças!
A ver vamos...
This dress had so many little pieces, which was perfect for using up the ends of some favorite fabrics. Very fun pattern! The headband is not part of the pattern. . .made that one up.

I've found a new love for reading I thought I'd never had. Books rarely captivate but I'm finding myself going through the book case next to my desk getting lost in my own world.
I need to put my creative thinking cap on. I'm not feeling very satisfied at the moment with my images. I feel like I'm in a daze, I need to get back to feeling myself.
Simplicity 1612; ca. 1946; TEEN AGE BATHING SUIT AND BEACH COAT: The bra top is gathered at the sides and the center front is softly crushed with a tie. Shoulder straps cross and button in the back. There are gathers at the side of trunks in front and soft pleats at lower sides and back. An elastic is inserted at center front to achieve a shirred effect and ribbon is drawn through eyelets in the bands at sides of trunks. The beach coat, styled with soft gathers released from a forward shoulder seam, features a standing collar, side openings, bishop sleeves and patch pockets.

OK, this is a pattern for Ideal's Chrissy, etc dolls. But someone has suggested it would be good for a Sasha doll. Has anyone ever made this pattern and altered it for Sasha? Just curious.
Ironically, I'm finding it far from simple to explain this picture. In short, I find it fascinating that the simple sound "om" or "aum" (which is the symbol in this picture) has such a complex meaning; not only in general, but also for me personally. To me this photo illustrates that juxtaposition of complexity and simplicity in a way which I can't figure out how to explain properly
(Before anyone comments on this, I am aware that the symbol is missing a dot. I somehow forgot it when I was drawing it and didn't realize it was missing until the photo had already been edited)

During the last afternoon yesterday a weather system approached from the north turning the sky a dark purple. The setting sun in turn transformed the tall pines and the leafless trees into points of golden, flaming light.
I posted this image on my blog last night to illustrate an essay on the tight places in which I find myself -- my neighborhood being the most literal of them. It's impossible to get an unobstructed view of anything, except, of course, the cars, rolling trash bins, open garage doors, roof and lines. But, enough about that.
But, any overall photograph to capture the startling and vivid array of torches along the street would have also included a multitude of distraction. In the end, and having to work quickly, I abandoned even the idea of a single treetop, a single canopy, opting instead partial views of the trees aflame and leaning toward the source of the light.

This dress has an elastic waist but feel it needs a belt so it's not too boring. I don't wear this dress much but think it will be in rotation more often this summer with my favorite rainbow polka dot wedges.

It is the last lesson of modern science, that the highest simplicity of structure is produced, not by few elements, but by the highest complexity.

What I love in Adélie is her simplicity.
Her dress is vintage linen fabric I hand-dyed blue. Her little baby's bonnet is also vintage; I found it on a flea market this summer! It is made of lovely white extra light cotton, trimmed with tiny lace.
Seen in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I liked the simplicity, lines and colors. Not quite sure what it all means...
Hope you had a great weekend!
