“When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things-not the great occasions-give off the greatest glow of happiness.” - ВОВ НОРЕ.

Some of the simplest things I remember are watching the Bob Hope specials with my parents in front of the old tv; our Christmas Eve walks in the snow with our kids; the Christmas Day hike or snowshoe to the Grotto just the two of us when we became empty nesters; and now it’s FaceTimes with the grandchildren who live so far away but we can feel close virtually. Merry Christmas everyone.

... the simplest moments are the most magical – a hand tangled in hair, a soft smile in the dark, the steady rhythm of two hearts finding each other again and again. This is where forever feels real.

A rather unimaginative entry into this weeks Macro Mondays theme which is Complementary colours, so this is purple and yellow.

Played around with paints and glitters and all sorts of weird things, but sometimes the simplest ideas work the best.

Question for all you techies out there. Shot taken at 100 ISO, f20, 0.8s and on a tripod but I am still getting a fair bit of noise and not managing to get pin sharp. The lens is a Sigma art lens so should be a good piece of glass. Am I doing something wrong or am I just expecting too much from my kit?

Sometimes, in the simplest things, the most common is the true beauty of nature.

On many occasions, nature photographers seek the most shocking photo, or the most impressive place, but never forget that we are surrounded by simple and true beauty.

I hope you like it. Have a nice Thursday. :)

Beauty in the simplest things

Beach walk down the coast, I really enjoyed taking photos just me and and the camera.

I find that the best things in life are the simplest ones.

A person may take a long trip to view incredible sights, such as the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite or even the Florida Everglades. In between all of these amazing places are other callings for people. Make no mistake, every place has its incredible moments and fine attributes. All places are what a person wants them to be, or hopes that they will be.

With that being said, I continue to marvel at my own back yard on the nearby Olympic Peninsula. Because of the time of day that I head into the forest, the mountains or the ocean, there are virtually no other people ever around.

The solitude is always something that I seek out.

I could spend the final years of my life here at home and find total contentment. I really could...... :)

It's amazing what one can do, even when your home is 3000m in the air ♥

The most simplest of inventions and most used.

One simple bench probably holds as much knowledge, despair, heartache, pain, laughter and happiness than any library could. "Where would one sit and contemplate if there were no benches?" (ponders that thought)!

What makes eating outside so wholly appealing? The simplest foods just taste better when sitting on a picnic blanket in the park. Here's to more blissful days eating leisurely picnics.

Please share your favorite picnic foods. I am looking for some new ideas and recipes. Thanks!

During our drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks while visiting Alaska, we primarily aimed to outrun a coastal storm that struck on our second day there. It was only as we approached Denali that the clouds started to clear, revealing distant views. Seeing the clouds lift to sunshine and blue sky was truly breathtaking. The sunlight scattered across snow-covered peaks, with untouched snow blanketing everything, created a winter wonderland even in the simplest scenery.

A Zen Master lived the simplest kind of life in a little hut at the foot of a mountain. One evening, while he was away, a thief sneaked into the hut only to find there was nothing in it to steal. The Zen Master returned and found him. "You have come a long way to visit me," he told the prowler, "and you should not return empty handed. Please take my clothes as a gift." The thief was bewildered, but he took the clothes and ran away. The Master sat naked, watching the moon. "Poor fellow," he mused, " I wish I could give him this beautiful moon."

The visible 'cruck' construction of the large curved timbers on the gable ends is one of the earliest and simplest of building techniques.

Water from a refrigerated bottled water dispenser. With temperatures forecast to rise over this week to uncomfortable levels where I live, plenty of cold water is the simplest, best refreshment there is.

Snares are anchored cable or wire nooses set to catch wild animals. The simplest and very effective. They are cheap to produce and easy to set in wide numbers.

..In the simplest of places. We are the power.

Explore 16 at best, thank you so.

And then we decided to go out on our scooter, of course I was driving because you, my love, would kill us (lol) with the wind in our faces and a lot of speed, we went to beautiful places, we laughed, we cried laughing again because you are so funny, my love, I can say that, you make my simplest days the best of my life...

you're more than a soulmate, you're a piece of my soul❤️️

Caban Coch dam in full flow after a lot of rain locally. Caban Coch is the simplest of the Elan Valley dams, being in effect a big wall without the towers or bridges that the other dams have. So when the reservoir reaches capacity, the extra water flows over the top to form this amazing waterfall. The dam face is deliberately 'lumpy' to help to slow the water down a bit and hence reduce it's erosive force. The two structures at the base of the dam are regulators that let water flow out and hence meet the legal requirement of a minimum water flow into the Elan River that was written into the Act of Parliament that governed the contruction of the dams. At times of flood like this, nature takes over and there is no need for the regulators to operate.

The catchment area is 180 Sq Kilometers, and the area gets an average of 1830mm of rain per year, and it all comes togther at this point. From here 360 million litres of water per day is sent down the pipes to Birmingham.

…But Jonathan Livingston Seagull, unashamed, stretching his wings again in that trembling hard curve - slowing, slowing, and stalling once more - was no ordinary bird.

Most gulls don't bother to learn more than the simplest facts of flight - how to get from shore to food and back again.

For most gulls, it is not flying that matters, but eating.

For this gull, though, it was not eating that mattered, but flight.

More than anything else.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull loved to fly…

A typical North Sea scene.

The sun going down rapidly.

No matter how many times I'll see this in my life, I'll always stand in awe and wonder for such beauty, it will never cease to impress me with it's constant variety, this play and display of light.

Peace descends and envelops my soul.

No manipulation nor filters used, none needed!

I prefer taking 'uplifting' images...life is tough enough, there is more than plenty of 'darkness' and 'Angst'...

I am not 'hiding' from reality, only refuse to only live with 'that', I want to show there IS still 'ANOTHER', beautiful, side to it... for those who care to look?

Wishing you a glorious day and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)
