This was a church I spent time in on my trip. It was in a small Bavarian style village surrounded by a busy more modern town. There were nicer and grander churches along the way, but I felt most comfortable here. As I did at all of them I said hello and thank you for a lot of things. And asked for some things for others. Then left. None of my thoughts were dramatic. Just simple things. But still very meaningful. And that’s it. Really. Well there was a confessional booth the size of a house and so that was calling my name but that’s a whole other post and didn’t happen here.

Twinleaf, (Jeffersonia diphylla) as seem om the New Jerseu Highlands. The simple leaf at the apex of each stem is divided into two identical parts. Leaves have reached only half their mature height, 12-18", when the leafless flower stalk produces a white, 8-petaled, star-like blossom. Fruit is a pipe-like capsule that pops open when ripe.
The solitary flower somewhat resembles that of Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis), but the latter species has palmately compound leaves with 5-9 lobes. Although both common and species names suggest a plant with two leaves, there are actually more; each leaf is divided into two nearly separate leaflets. The genus was named in honor of Thomas Jefferson by his friend and fellow botanist William Bartram. Only one other species of twinleaf occurs in the world: J. dubia, found in Japan.. An ancient site near Hidden Valley Ranch just north of Deming, NM, probably used for harvesting the nuts and fruits from the trees and shrubs that grow along a nearby arroyo. The rain god Tlaloc always has eye ornamentation. This, I suspect, is a reduction of the design to only the eyes and a lightning flash.

...I wish every thing else in my life was this beautiful and simple right now...I still have not done the homework for my photography class...not that I havent tried...I just havent succeded...I cannot believe that a one day class seems to come so quickly....I AM however almost done with Emilys announcements...I decided on a picture...no more waiting for better weather...I had to go with the best one that I had...I think we are happy...now the prom dress..the haircut...the BOY...the graduation....~sigh~
