Dan Lepard's Simple Walnut Loaf gets its colour from pureed walnut and red wine. I used some leftover Amarone.
The original recipe was published in The Guardian back in 2005. I used the updated recipe in his book Short & Sweet. Very pleased with the result. Read more at Dessert By Candy.

There are these "official" guideposts for this walking trail up Higashiyama. I learned - eventually - that if the sign says that you should turn right immediately, you should trust the sign, even if the only thing you see to the right is an overgrown, moss-covered stair going down into the bush....
