Do you struggle with colour schemes for boys cards? With my son's birthday around the corner, I wanted to create another bunny card for him but was stumped as to what colours of ink to use for the idea I had in my head. That was until the new Wendy Vecchi dye inks for Ranger Ink arrived and I loved their muted colours which I felt suited perfectly without being too pastel and babyish 😃👍🐰

I am linking my card to the current Simon Says Stamp Flickr Group Challenge which is all about using stencils. I inked my stencil with distress inks, sprayed with water, and then stamped on watercolor paper. Thanks for looking.

Supplies: SSS Stripe Columns Stencil, SSS Friendly Flowers Stamps, SSS Christmas Stamps, SSS Delicate Flowers Dies, SSS Small Folded Banners Dies and Ranger Distress Inks.

The snowflakes are made from paper colored with alcohol ink. Still loving the blue and purple colors for winter. Entering this in the Simon Says Stamp challenge, Winter Wonder and the LOVE! - Handmade Cards December challenge 71.

My entry to the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge. I used the Basic Stripes set to create the plaid background, Stitched Rectangle dies to cut the panel, and the Painted Hello die for the sentiment. The only non-Simon product I used were the Stitched Leaves from Lawn Fawn. I added Clear Wink of Stella to the hello and then Glossy Accents on top. It looks really pretty IRL. My favorite thing about fall are the changing leaves. I moved to southwestern Arizona a couple of years ago and I always love going back home to Indiana at this time of year to see all the beautiful color!

I love the beach colours in this easy watercolour background - cool blues and sandy beiges. They take me back to when I liked these colours as a child. They say smells take you back in time, but I think colours do too and for me, this adds to the calm these colours evoke.

My entry into the Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge 50! I used a sentiment from the set Big Birthday Wishes.

Colour is one of the key design principles for me. It might surprise you, because if you've been around here for a while then you'll know I love muted colours, but just because a colour palette is muted doesn't mean it isn't impactful. Muted colours speak to me, stop me scrolling and give me that emotional response I desire from creativity. And it is that emotional connection that I'm always seeking out. With Winter around the corner, icy colours especially blues are a given. However, by adding a touch of warmth with the kraft card then you have a contrast between the icy blues. Also, anything which includes kraft nods to the handmade, homely feel. So those colours paired with the white for simplicity tell their own story to me.

I've not used alcohol inks much but I can see that changing because I had such fun playing with the new Alcohol Pearls Inks from Tim Holtz for this card! Three of the new inks and a bottle of blending solution are included in the new May card kit from Simon Says Stamp, as well as Yupo paper and some of the new Silver Sparkle paper from Tim too - lots of inky, technique possibilities with this kit and an absolutely gorgeous Delicate Flowers, stamp set too 😃
