When the new Tim Holtz Saltwater Taffy Distress colour was released I played around with this ink combination and the piece sat on my desk and kept catching my eye. I love the warm ice cream tones which melt into a grounding of darker colour. I thought I'd use the colour combo in one of the quickest ways to 'colour' a floral set which is to create a lovely ink blended background and then white heat emboss on top. You get all the beautiful linework of the flowers while the colour scheme hints at warm summer days. All you need to finish it off is a statement sentiment piece and you are done! Oh, and there's a video to this one :D

I hope this card looks simple and achievable to you because it is! The thing is, for me at least, to achieve a card that looks so easy there's a fair amount of planning and preparation in advance. In today's video on my YouTube channel, I take you step-by-step through my thought process 😃👍

This is my entry to the SSSFlickrChallenge#20.

Summer does mean a lot of bright and beautiful flowers to me and so I used this theme in my card. I used no line watercoloring with my Gansai Tambi water colors in this card.

Products used:

Simon Says Stamp: Flower Garden stamp set, Flowers on my Mind stamp set, Seaglass card stock

Lawn Fawn: Let's Polka paper pad

At long last my SSS June Kit arrived!! Such happy mail!!

Of course I must ink it up right away. Hehe.

I created a ink smooshed/splattered background, stencilled with glitter gel, then stamp butterfly and sentiment.

For the Simon says stamp flickr challenge #26 play with pastels ...blogged here :) justkatecrafting.blogspot.co.uk/2015/08/play-with-pastels...

That feeling of coming home when a card you make just feels 'right' to you! I loved returning to some favourite techniques for this card - embossing paste through a stencil and layered watercoloured flowers 😃🌸

With this card I am joining the SSS flickr challenge:"Birthday Bash". Used one of the newest stamp sets. And colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

The leaves are turning and there is certainly a change in the air here and so I went with a fall flowers watercolour card using the gorgeous Altenew/SimonSaysStamp #STAMPtember set. I'm a great believer that you can use any set for a seasonal card as long as you opt for the right colours! 🍂😃

I think this Pretty Peonies Background stamp is my favourite from the recent Simon Says Stamp release. I used it before for a bright, loose watercoloured background with white heat embossing, but for today I wanted to use my favourite muted colour palette and some no-line watercolouring. I hope you'll call by and take a closer look over at my blog 😃

I'm trying harder to find the time to film videos at the moment. I know it likely won't last as life will get in the way but it makes me happy to keep sharing videos as much as I can. In todays video I'm coloring with pencils on kraft card with this cute Forest Friends Reverse Confetti set for Simon Says Stamp 😀

Do you like watercoloured, vintage-styled Christmas cards? It is a style I love this year. I think it stems from how much I am enjoying the Distress line from Tim Holtz, and the makers he employs to showcase the new products always inspire me. Did you see the recent YouTube Live where Tim showcased the new Lumberjack Plaid Distress colour? The gentle shabby chic of Stacy Hutchinson always inspires me, and did you see the gorgeous tags and whatnot that Zoe Hillman did? Fabulous!

I love the traditional blues and reds of a nautical theme but sometimes its nice to mute things down a touch with a softer palette. I'm using both the negative and positive of the classic Sailboat die in the July Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp ⛵

Hello again, and Happy New Year! I'm starting the year as I mean to go on by sticking to what I know and love. A beautiful botanical image and a set of paints make me so happy; that is what 2023 will be about for me. Doing what is right for my family and me. I continue to take the pressure off myself to post on social media. Maybe what I will share will be me puddling around with paints with no plan or finished project in mind. Just enjoying playing, exploring and experimenting. That fills my soul.
