One inexpensive embossing folder, a couple of pieces of thick card and a few Distress Oxide ink pads and you have a card set with a matching folder to gift at Christmas! I don't know about you, but as a card maker, I often get asked by friends and family for cards. A simple gift such as this card set would set someone up with a few card-giving occasions! Using the Simon Says Stamp Peony Bundle embossing folder, I made three cards, a general friendship card, a birthday card, and a sympathy card and the folder to keep them in. When the new Tim Holtz Saltwater Taffy Distress colour was released I played around with this ink combination and the piece sat on my desk and kept catching my eye. I love the warm ice cream tones which melt into a grounding of darker colour. I thought I'd use the colour combo in one of the quickest ways to 'colour' a floral set which is to create a lovely ink blended background and then white heat emboss on top. You get all the beautiful linework of the flowers while the colour scheme hints at warm summer days. All you need to finish it off is a statement sentiment piece and you are done! Oh, and there's a video to this one :D

Gina K's recent card inspired my entry for SSS Flickr 203 www.flickr.com/groups/simonsaysstamp/discuss/721577219172... & Flickr Love Handmade Cards 80 www.flickr.com/groups/lovehandmadecards/discuss/721577219.... I used GKD Wreath Template with images from GKD Winter Hugs & SSS Peaceful Christmas--both older sets. The HA sentiment is an oldie, too. The PTI inks are Ripe Avocado, Prairie Grass & Ocean Tides. I used a Sprout Memento marker to color in the leaves which are also covered in shimmer. The gap was covered with Ripe Avocado cardstock & Ocean Tides printed paper. The sentiment & it's vellum mat were die cut with Altenew Nesting Ovals. I used Ocean Tides for the mat & added a couple tiny light green gems for embellishment. TFL

I'm leaving the soft subtle colors behind today to welcome in spring with a pop of brights for a floral focus point on this quick and easy birthday card!
