Today, I want to share my newfound love of mixed media layers. This soft whites and pastels palette makes for an excellent backdrop for this sweet Chickadee. This card would make a great Valentine's, but equally is generic enough to be sent any time of year.

Be still my flower-loving heart! I partially heat embossed the wreath of this Honey Bee set to get the delicate gold lines of the frame and smaller foliage and then no-line watercoloured the beautiful flowers and larger leaves.
Made for the CASology Challenge of this week:"Stich".
Thats why I have chosen for these kind of stiched flowers, a part of a Simon Says Stamp stampset. And a stiched frame, also SSS.
I used a sentiment stamp from the SSS Holiday Message Strips set on this card - plus tons of nuvo drops!
My second card for Background Check from Online Card Classes. I love the beautiful plaid pattern I learned to make! Too bad I had to mask all of it...ordered some line stamps to make it easier next time!
In today's video, I'm having inky fun with Tim Holtz Distress products creating backgrounds for die-cutting these beautiful Cardinal dies.

Finally got to play with SSS Spring Flowers today. Did some masking and Copic colouring on Hero Arts Latte Layering card. Used a Lil' Inkers embossing die - just love the look of the white side of the card showing through. Added some white dots.

Oh, I am in the mood for the soft pastels currently. It is that tempting hint at spring, I think. The birds seem to know that the days are getting longer and are chattering away more, beginning the pairing up process for the breeding season ahead. I had such fun with this card creating lots of subtle details from the mandala in the background with a bit of crackle and the layered Valentine's sentiments enforced by the symbolism of the die-cut heart :D

There is a wide range of different techniques for watercolouring flowers from the very loosest of simple brush marks to ultra-detailed, realistic paintings. My preference is somewhere in between, but more towards the loose side; it's a play between faded hints at what is there and yet other areas where you can still define flowers and leaves and they do have some detail to them. In today's video, I have hints and tips as to how I like to add the loose look to watercoloured flowers from stamped images 😃
