EN: In the past we have had railway lines without light or semaphor signals only on secondary railways. But now we find such missing signals also on highspeed lines like the swedish Bottniabane. Green Cargo Train 4594 passes the "entrance signal" of Drömme station. This entrance signal is built only by a blue board with yellow arrow. ETCS is the name of this brandnew signalling system, that shows the position of the signals on a screen in the locomotive and not outside. In Sweden there are not many train operators having such ETCS equipped locos. The Green Cargo Rd are one of few classes allowed to move on the new line. All other trains run on the old railroad.
DE: In der Vergangenheit kannte man Bahnstrecken ohne Signale mit wechselnden Signalbildern nur von Nebenbahnen im Zugleitbetrieb. Aber heute finden wir solche fehlenden Signale auch an Hochgeschwindigkeitsstrecken wie z.B. der schwedischen Bottniabahn. Es ist ein kurioser Anblick, wenn die Züge mit hoher Geschwindigkeit durch Bahnhöfe brausen, deren Signale nur Tafeln sind. Green Cargo Zug 4594 passiert gerade die gelbblaue Einfahrsignaltafel des Bf Drömme. Im Verfahren ETCS werden die Signalstellungen in die Lokführerstände übertragen und dort angezeigt. Die Green Cargo Baureihe Rd ist eine der wenigen in Schweden, die für ETCS ausgerüstet ist. Wegen fehlender ETCS Ausrüstung fahren viele Güterzüge noch über die parallele alte Strecke.

Die Signalkulisse von Oberhausen West, hier pulsiert das Leben. Das Personal des Stellwerks Oro hast hier alle Hände voll zu tun und Zug und Rangierfahrten zu koordinieren und dann die Fahrstraßen passen einzustellen. Hier zieht 232 182 als Rangierfahrt vor um zu ihrer nächsten Zugleistung zu gelangen.
En place de très bonne heure à la réserve de la PCA (Petite Camargue Alsacienne) en espérant voir le crabier chevelu signalé depuis quelques jours. Le crabier est resté au loin mais il y a eu une très belle surprise avec l'arrivée de deux chevreuils en face de l'observatoire. Un grand merci à Jean-Paul H. pour son accueil et ses précieux conseils.
In place very early at the PCA reserve (Petite Camargue Alsacienne) hoping to see the squacco heron reported for a few days. The squacco heron stayed in the distance but there was a very nice surprise with the arrival of two roe deer in front of the observatory. A big thank you to Jean-Paul H. for his welcome and valuable advice.
41 1144-9 konnte im Jahr 2022 im Rahmen einer Fotofahrt bei der Durchfahrt durch den Bahnhof von Haldensleben beobachtet werden. Das Stellwerk B2/Hmf ist das Befehlsstelwerk von Haldensleben, der Fotostandort war mir dem FDL abgesprochen.

Es ist eine Frage der Zeit bis die Flügelsignale in Düsseldorf-Rath fallen. Mit Ende der bis Dezember 2025 andauernden Streckensperrungen für Arbeiten an Leit- und Steueranlagen „sollten“ die Signale demontiert wetden. Das wurde allerdings doch noch verschoben. Während der Sperrung zum neuen Estw Köln gab es zuvor noch reichlich Züge. Wie dieser umgeleitete Containerzug / KLV von Aachen-West über Krefeld und Duisburg nach Köln mit den Lineas Werbeloks 186 252 „Out off Traffic“ und Lineas/TCS 186 291.
Reprieve
It was only a matter of time before the semaphore signals in Düsseldorf-Rath would be removed. With the end of the track closures for work on signaling and control systems, which were scheduled to last until December 2025, the signals were "supposed" to be dismantled. However, this was postponed. During the major closure for the new Cologne electronic interlocking system, there were still plenty of trains. Like this diverted container train/combined freight train from Aachen-West via Krefeld and Duisburg to Cologne, pulled by the Lineas advertising locomotives 186 252 "Out off Traffic" and Lineas/TCS 186 291.

Une photo prise hier matin dans une petite rue - déserte à ce moment - à deux pas de chez moi qui m'a valu de me faire engu...par une personne qui arrivait avec son chien. Indignée, la dame : je n'avais pas de chien, je ne faisais pas mes courses, pire je prenais des photos : honteux, je devrais être verbalisée. S'il y avait eu un agent, elle m'aurait sans doute signalée.
Je comprends et approuve la décision de "confinement" mais c'est dingue : dès lors qu'on garde ses distances, à l'extérieur, on ne risque rien soi-même et on ne contamine personne. Las, les comportements à risques qui continuent, inconscients, insouciants ou irresponsables, vont faire que ce minimum, quasi vital dans une grande ville pour ne pas péter les plombs dans la durée, les citadins n'y auront même plus droit.

Beim Fotografieren war ich ganz auf den Moment focussiert.
Umso mehr hat sich der ehemalige Physikleher nun über die Beklebung dieser Lok gefreut, die seit 2015 zu Ehren von Christian Doppler beklebt worden ist und 2022 ein neues Design bekam.
1803 wurde der Mathematiker und Physiker Christian Doppler in Salzburg geborenen, bekannt durch den 'Doppler-Effekt'.
Wir kennen ihn aus dem Alltag , wenn uns ein Fahrzeug mit Signal entgegenkommt und an uns vorbeifährt.
Der Doppler-Effekt
beschreibt die Frequenzänderung von Wellen (Schall oder Licht), wenn sich Quelle und Beobachter relativ zueinander bewegen. Bei Annäherung werden Wellen gestaucht (höhere Frequenz/hellerer Ton), bei Entfernung gestreckt (niedrigere Frequenz/tieferer Ton). Entdeckt von Christian Doppler 1842.
Er hat große Bedeutung für die Technik (Radar, Geschwindigkeitsmessung), Medizin (Ultraschall) und Astronomie.

Mit einer Garnitur aus Doppelstockwagen kommt uns hier am 03.05.90 in Sulechow die EU07-360 mit ihrem P 315 entgegen. Man beachte die extrem hohen Flügelsignale.

Im Februar 2020 wurde dieser ICE in Aachen auf den Namen „Euregio Maas-Rhein" getauft. Die Partnerschaft der Region Aachen mit Ostbelgien, den Provinzen Limburg, Lüttich und Limburg als Europaregion „Euregio Maas-Rhein" ist ein Beispiel für grenzübergreifende Kooperation, die die Deutsche Bahn mit der Taufe des ICE gewürdigt hat.
Paimboeuf vient, semble-t-il, du breton "pen" (fin) et du scandinave "boos" (exploitation agricole) ou d'après une légende de "pen bo" (tête de bœuf, en breton). Il faut savoir que sur les îles de l’estuaire vivaient jadis des troupeaux de bœufs sauvages. La Borderie évoque même une citadelle, le château de Warock puis de Coratinalen situé dans un lieu appelé Pen Oc'hen qui aurait évolué en Pen Bo, nom que l'on retrouve au XIIème siècle.
Au XVIème siècle et XVIIème siècle Paimboeuf était considéré comme une île coincée entre deux bras de la Loire, vivant de pêche, d'agriculture et d'élevage, qui prend l'importance d'une ville au XVIIème siècle. Le mouillage de Paimboeuf est signalé dès 1483. Louis XIV, dans des lettres patentes datant de 1682, désigne ce lieu « bourg ou île de Paimboeuf ».
En 1650, Paimboeuf devient un avant-port de Nantes : l'accès du port de Nantes devenant de plus en plus difficile, les plus gros bâtiments doivent mouiller à Paimboeuf. L'activité du port de Paimboeuf croit avec l'essor du commerce triangulaire de Nantes vers l’Afrique et les Antilles et un môle est construit en 1782. A la fin du XVIIIème siècle un grand nombre d'officiers marchands élisent domicile à Paimboeuf. En 1856, à l'ouverture des bassins de Saint-Nazaire, la décadence de ce port commence pour être aujourd’hui, uniquement, un petit port de pêche artisanale.

Im Mai 2022 waren auf der Bahnstrecke München - Mühldorf einige Regionalexpress Züge ohne Steuerwagen unterwegs.
Als Ersatz hingen jeweils zwei Dieselurgesteine der Baureihe 218 am Zug.
So auch beim RE 4 München - Simbach am Inn.
Dieser konnte bei der Durchfahrt in Hörlkofen abgelichtet werden, dabei hing die 218.422 am Zugschluss.

Pour clore cette année remplie de belles occasions incluant quelques Lifers, j'ai pensé publier ce portrait de famille des Faucons du Turcot. Ce fut une couvée de trois fauconneaux qui aura mal tourné cette fois.
C'est un peu pour partager mes émotions et mon émerveillement de ce couple admirable qui pour la 5iè année a travaillé avec acharnement à mettre au monde, nourrir et apprendre à voler aux deux survivants de la couvée.
À gauche Polly la maman, puis Acacia (la grande sœur), Monroe (le petit frère) et finalement Algo le papa. Monroe était tombé du nid le premier. Il avait causé tout un émoi en traversant le pont du canal Lachine "à pied" pour se rendre du côté des travaux juste au moment où le chantier s'activait. Après avoir tout arrêté pour le protéger, il décida de retourner de l'autre côté (à tire d'ailes cette fois-ci) où nous avons pu le capturer et le baguer. Deux jours plus tard le petit malin prit la poudre d'escampette. Nous ne l'avons plus revu depuis. Quatre jours plus tard, c'était au tour d'Acacia de sortir du nid en volant dans son cas. Elle était plus grande et mieux nourrie que Monroe et sûrement plus futée. Elle nous aura procuré deux semaines de pur plaisir avant d'être signalée morte au bord du canal le 8 juillet. Je l'avais prise en vol pour la dernière fois quelques jours avant. J'ai eu la triste besogne de récupérer son corps pour nécropsie à la COP. Mais son état avancé n'a pas permis d'arriver à une conclusion. Il nous reste l'espoir qu'un jour Monroe sera signalé quelque part grâce au double baguage à sa sortie du nid.
Voilà mon triste coup de cœur pour cette année qui se termine. Une autre année commence pour Polly et Algo sous cet Échangeur de plus en plus dangereux pour eux. Peut-être pourront-ils répéter l'exploit. Une chose et sûre, il seront surveillés de près.

To close a very busy birding year, I thought I should publish a family portrait of the 2016 edition of the Peregrine Falcons who for the 5th year nested under a very busy and continuously being repaired urban expressway.
Sadly, of the three babies one died in the nest (we have no confirmation as to the cause), the male fell out, was captured and tagged on both legs. But he disappeared 2 days later. Finally, the female seemed to be doing extremely well for 2 weeks. Then we found her body on the side of the canal. She had been dead for a few days. Impossible to conlcude as to the cause of death because of the advanced decay stage.
On the left, Polly the mom, next is the female baby Acacia, then Monroe the baby brother and finally, on the right, Algo the dad.
Here's hoping that 2017 will be a good year for this brave couple. We will be watching.
