Paimboeuf vient, semble-t-il, du breton "pen" (fin) et du scandinave "boos" (exploitation agricole) ou d'après une légende de "pen bo" (tête de bœuf, en breton). Il faut savoir que sur les îles de la région vivaient jadis des troupeaux de bœufs sauvages. La Borderie évoque même une citadelle, le château de Warock puis de Coratinalen situé dans un lieu appelé Pen Oc'hen qui aurait évolué en Pen Bo, nom que l'on retrouve au XIIème siècle. Paimboeuf est, au XIIème siècle, un petit hameau, simple îlot coincé entre deux bras de la Loire, vivant de pêche, d'agriculture et d'élevage, qui prend l'importance d'une ville au XVIIème siècle. Le mouillage de Paimboeuf est signalé dès 1483. Au XVIème siècle et XVIIème siècle Paimboeuf était considéré comme une île. Louis XIV, dans des lettres patentes datant de 1682, désigne ce lieu « bourg ou île de Paimboeuf ». En 1650, Paimboeuf devient un avant-port de Nantes : l'accès du port de Nantes devenant de plus en plus difficile, les plus gros bâtiments doivent mouiller à Paimboeuf. L'activité du port de Paimboeuf croit avec l'essor du commerce triangulaire de Nantes vers l’Afrique et les Antilles et un môle est construit en 1782. A la fin du XVIIIème siècle un grand nombre d'officiers marchands élisent domicile à Paimboeuf. En 1856, à l'ouverture des bassins de Saint-Nazaire, la décadence de ce port commence pour être aujourd’hui, uniquement, un petit port de pêche artisanale.

In 1650, Paimboeuf became an outer port of Nantes: access to the port of Nantes became more and more difficult, the largest buildings had to anchor in Paimboeuf. The activity of the port of Paimboeuf grew with the rise of triangular trade from Nantes to Africa and the West Indies and a mole was built in 1782. At the end of the 18th century a large number of merchant officers took up residence in Paimboeuf. In 1856, when the basins of Saint-Nazaire opened, the decline of this port began to be today, only, a small artisanal fishing port.

J'ai fait plusieurs belles observations ces derniers temps, un printemps bien surprenant à date, mais celle-ci est toute particulière, je m'empresse de vous la présenter car il s'agit d'une Paruline dont sa présence est considérée comme étant inusitée à notre latitude, puisque son aire de distribution la plus au Nord, en période de nichée, se situe beaucoup plus au Sud — plus au Sud même que la Nouvelle-Angleterre aux États-Unis. Une grosse prime coche* pour moi! Observée et signalée tôt le matin par Emmanuel Milot, grand merci à lui, je suis allé à sa recherche en fin d'après-midi. À mon arrivée, les nombreux observateurs sur place l'avaient perdus de vue suite au passage d'un Épervier de Cooper. Ce n'est qu'après une heure de vaines recherches que son signalement, en retrait du lieu où nous la cherchions, fut transmis par Maxime Čapkun-Huot, un autre grand merci à distribuer ici. Après quelques minutes suivant notre arrivée dans le secteur désigné, notre petit groupe, mené à ce moment-là par l'amie Jocelyne Feizo (merci pour ta persévérance Jocelyne), a fini par la localiser. À la vue du petit oiseau, une vive émotion s'est alors emparée de moi — surpris moi-même par son intensité. Nous jubilions toutes et tous à observer et capter le rarissime oiseau se perchant pratiquement toujours près du sol dans les tout derniers rayons de ce soleil qui disparaissait rapidement derrières les arbres du secteur. Grand et heureux privilège que ce celui-là! Il ne s'agissait que de sa 3e mention au jardin et nous comptons seulement une dizaine de sites et périodes où cette espèce fut rapportée depuis les 25 dernières années dans la grande région de Montréal. Inusité en effet, et c'est peu dire!

L'Office québécois de la langue française recommande l'utilisation du terme Première marque pour souligner la toute première observation d'un oiseau faite par une personne, «lifer» en anglais. Personnellement, je préfère et de loin, le terme de prime coche constitué tout de même de mots tout à fait français, dont la formation est linguistiquement jugée douteuse par l'OQLF. Mais cette dernière reconnaît, sans l'approuver pour autant, que ce terme jouit d'un certain usage auprès des ornithologues amateurs québécois.
Für viele Jahre war der, mit einer 232/233 bespannte Güterzug, Seelze - Magdeburg via. Haldensleben eine gerne mitgenommene Fotogelegenheit. Am 05.12.19 hatte 233 452-2 Dienst vor diesem Zug und musste in Haldensleben die Regionalbahnen passieren lassen.

Hier, ce mâle juvénile (qui a bien grandi) m'a fait la surprise de venir seul au jardin et s'est longuement étiré, juste devant ma baie vitrée; Habituellement , il vient accompagné de son père plus farouche, mais qui signale toujours sa présence par un grand éclat de rire ... un joli moment que je souhaitais partager avec vous .

Yesterday, this juvenile male (which has grown well) surprised me by coming alone to the garden and stretched for a long time, right in front of my bay window; Usually, he comes accompanied by his more fierce father, but who always signals his presence with a big burst of laughter... a lovely moment that I wanted to share with you.

Couché sur la plage depuis le lever du jour, je profite de cette proximité avec les Grands Gravelot durant presque 1h. Que du bonheur de les observer dans leur milieu naturel.
Une espèce signalée en déclin, en particulier en Europe, même si toujours pas classée menacée pour l'instant.

Posé sur la jetée orientale, le phare des Onglous n’a rien d'un colosse. C’est une tour cylindrique, blanche comme la craie, surmontée d’une lanterne rouge vif qui claque dans le ciel. Depuis 1902, il signale la fin du canal du midi, le début de l’étang, la transition entre deux mondes : l’eau douce des péniches, l’eau salée des coquillages.
Sa lumière, blanche ou rouge selon l’axe d’approche, pulse toutes les six secondes. Une respiration régulière, discrète, mais indispensable pour guider les plaisanciers vers Marseillan ou Sète.
Located on the eastern pier, the Onglous lighthouse is not a colossus. It is a cylindrical tower, white as chalk, topped with a bright red lantern that flashes in the sky. Since 1902, it has signaled the end of the Canal du Midi, the beginning of the pond, the transition between two worlds: fresh water from barges, salt water from shellfish.
Its light, white or red depending on the axis of approach, pulses every six seconds. Regular breathing, discreet, but essential to guide boaters towards Marseillan or Sète.

Le lac d'Aubert est un lac des Pyrénées françaises de 45 hectares situé à une altitude de 2 148 mètres.
Ce lac est situé dans la réserve naturelle du Néouvielle (massif du Néouvielle), aux portes du parc national des Pyrénées, en contrebas et à l'ouest du lac d'Aumar dont il n'est séparé que par une bande de terre d'environ 200 mètres de large. Il s'étale sur 45 hectares à une altitude de 2 148 mètres. Son barrage surplombe les Laquettes.
Dans sa quasi-totalité, le lac est sur une enclave de la commune de Vielle-Aure, dans le département des Hautes-Pyrénées, en région Occitanie2. Cependant, deux petites parties, au nord-ouest comme au sud sont rattachées à une autre enclave, dépendante de la commune de Saint-Lary-Soulan.
La ville la plus proche est Saint-Lary-Soulan.
La route menant aux lacs (Orédon, Aubert, Aumar et Cap-de-Long) est réglementée : généralement fermée en hiver, la fermeture est signalée par des panneaux, au carrefour de Fabian ; la circulation automobile montante, sur la dernière partie de la route, après le lac d'Orédon, interdite de 9 à 18 h, est réservée aux véhicules de service et au bus-navette.
Le site paysager du Trixhe Nollet,
Hayen et le site de Trixhe Nollet a un passé méconnu, à savoir son passé industriel. L’exploitation du minerai de fer est signalée dès 1639 dans les annales des comtes d’Esneux et fut pendant deux siècles un des pourvoyeurs des maîtres de forges liégeois.
Le minerai était acheminé par chars depuis le Trixhe Nollet à travers bois par le trou du Renard et puis la vallée seche du Rothy jusqu’au Laveu de Méry et l’Ourthe. La navigation sur l’Ourthe a fortement évolué durant la période d’activité des minières (mise en service du canal Liège-Comblain).
Vers 1774, Dom Nicolas Spirlet, abbé prieur de l’abbaye des bénédictins de Saint-Hubert et Maître des forges au fourneau Saint-Michel coulait les canons pour les américains pour leur guerre de l’indépendance. Dans la fabrication, il ne se contentait pas des riches minerai de la région de Saint-Hubert, mais il y mélangeait ceux de chez nous.
Hayen and the Trixhe Nollet site have a little-known past, namely its industrial past. The exploitation of iron ore is noted as early as 1639 in the annals of the Counts of Esneux and was for two centuries one of the purveyors of the Liège ironmasters.
The ore was transported by tanks from the Trixhe Nollet through the woods through the Renard hole and then the dry valley of Rothy to Laveu de Méry and the Ourthe. Navigation on the Ourthe has changed considerably during the period of mining activity (commissioning of the Liège-Comblain canal).
Around 1774, Dom Nicolas Spirlet, abbot prior of the Benedictine abbey of Saint-Hubert and master of the forges at the Saint-Michel furnace, sank the cannons for the Americans for their war of independence. In manufacturing, he was not satisfied with the rich minerals of the Saint-Hubert region, but he mixed those from our region.

Dieser mitten im Wald gelegene Bahnhof versprüht noch pure DDR Atmosphäre, Legendär der DR Aschenbecher am Bahnsteig und der Geruch in der kleinen Wartehalle. Um es mit meinem Kollegen Mariusz Dolinski zu sagen "Guck dich Dat an hier! Wahnsinn! Der Aschenbecher! Ich geh gleich Feste!"
143 168-3 bring's her S9 train into the Station of Kämmereiforst, this litte station is in the middle of the forest, the next real town is more than i kilometer away. Not much has changed there since the end of the GDR, even the waitinghall smells still like a long forgotten dream of Oil and Steam.
