La tour appartenait au vicomte de Turenne et devint en 1748 propriété du duc de Noailles en même temps que la châtellenie de Martel (H. Ramet, 1920). La première mention dans les textes apparaît en 1352, où elle sert de tour de guet et de prison. Le cadastre de 1757 la signale encore comme prison (J. Pardinel, 1978).

Elle doit son nom à une famille bourgeoise de Martel, les Tournemire, connue au début du 14e siècle.

Alignée sur l'enceinte, la tour est de plan carré, d'environ 7,70 m de côté pour une hauteur de 25 m avec quatre niveaux auquel s'ajoute le niveau de comble crénelé. Une bretèche établie au troisième étage permettait de battre le pied de la tour du côté du fossé.

wo man die lange Gerade kurz vor der Bickenbacher Kurve sehr gut erkennt

Flight: in two generations, from April to June and then in July and August.

mit ihrem Kesselwagenzug auf dem Weg gen Süden

VT 805 als HEX 11 durchfährt am 24.04.2017 den Bahnhof Blumenberg. Kaum 4 Jahre später ist vom einstigen Knotenbahnhof kaum noch etwas übrig. Die Formsignale samt 2 der 3 Stellwerke sowie die Bahnsteige wurden abgerissen. Das EG steht auch nur noch wenige Wochen und wartet auf das Ende in Form eines Abrissbaggers.
