The aroma I encountered, standing in front of this restaurant on Colorado Blvd, was amazing. Next time, we'll have to eat here -- I'm sure it will be delicious.
Eagle Rock, CA
UPDATE: In 2018, we did eat there and it was as good as I had hoped. Highly recommended. The only issue was finding a parking spot lol

Ten years in the making, Bass Pro Shops openned up it's largest store in the Memphis Pyramid, a former sports arena in 2015...It's 535,000 sq ft houses 2 restaurants, a 100 room hotel, bowling alley, multiple aquariums with everything from alligators to sturgeon and an observation deck with with the largest free standing elevator in America...
I took this photo six years ago....we drove through New Smyrna Beach, FL, earlier this year (2016) and sadly, this ABC store, along with this great sign, is now gone. There are still some ABC stores with the old revolving cube sign, thankfully. For example, the store in Cocoa, FL, is still open and their old cube sign is still standing.
Normandie Bake Shop in Brooklyn had a great #neonsign complete with #script lettering that at one point must have brought in lots of customers. We could not find out much about the history of this #bakery except that it was known for its black and white #cookies. We hope the relics of this great #neon #sign was saved. #storefront #disappearingfaceofnewyork #80sixd #neongeeks #signgeeks #signage #type #typography #font #fontastic #jj_texttypographical #trailblazers_urbex #tv_retrotype #foundtype #neonbulletholes #ipulledoverforthis #everything_signage #trb_ipoft_signs #tv_typography #typevstime
This was a pleasant and surprising find, when out for a drive east of the city. Just never know what's out there!
If you're unfamiliar with B/A (now Gulf), here's a link with some history: www.britishamericanoil.ca/history.html

Olden Camera in Midtown closed a number of years ago but we always wondered what happened to its beautiful #vintage #neonsign. As huge #analog camera fans as well as #typography lovers we would have loved to have saved it! Although realistically it would never have fit into our East Village studio. Photo from 2004 appears in our book "Store Front: The Disappearing Face of New York". #storefront #disappearingfaceofnewyork #type #typevstime #signgeeks #dailytype #signcollective #ig_signage
UPDATE: JANUARY 2017 -- THIS SIGN IS NOW GONE, REPLACED WITH A MODERN SIGN. BOO!
On a rainy, dreary March afternoon last year, as we headed north on our way home from Florida, we drove through Myrtle Beach for the first time ever. The conditions were far less than ideal and as the time ticked on, I was losing what light there was, so we just drove through and made only a few quick stops. Saw lots of neat stuff -- including this wonderful old-school Burger King sign still being used -- and look forward to returning on a nicer, brighter day.

Spotted while driving along Pico, in Los Angeles. For more info, check out this (older) post I found online:
Imperial Beef Company was founded in the 1930s and moved to this Myrtle Avenue location in 1954. At the time according to Domenick, the second-generation owner and #butcher, "Bedford- Stuyvesant, Brooklyn had a lot of #Italian families and we sold specialties like homemade Italian sausages. In more recent years, we changed our offerings to include chitlings." We love this #storefront #signage which was #handpainted on porcelain enamel tiles. Photo from 2004 and full interview appear in our book, "Store Front:The Disappearing Face of New York." #disappearingfaceofnewyork #signgeeks #guardiancities #signcollective
