I was taking photos all around Sainte Anne de Bellevue and I thought I'd snap an updated version of this photo that I took in 1994, from approximately the same point on Sainte Anne's Street, across the street from the Couche-Tard convenience store. That was actually one of the first photos that I ever posted at Flickr.
There hasn't been a significant amount of new construction along the main drag of Sainte Anne's in the 14 years between photos, but a couple of the bars, including the Sainte Anne's Pub seen in the older photo, have burned down since then, and Oscar's Pizza is now a laundromat.
Another change is that, in the older photo, you can see a couple of people waiting for the 211 Lionel-Groulx bus at the bus stop. The 211 (a normal-sized bus) now terminates in front of McGill University's Macdonald Campus, and the 251 shuttlebus services Sainte Anne's Street the rest of the way through the village to Garden City Avenue on the other side of Highway 20.
This is also one of the final photos taken with my Kodak EasyShare C643 Zoom, just a few minutes before it ceased functioning properly.
My job has a shuttle employees can take. I take advantage of it to save gas and play my Nintendo on the way up.

The Presidio of Monterey's Hobson Recreation Center extended its normal operating hours throughout the annual 24-hour block leave shuttle bus program departure period Dec. 18 and 19. The Presidio Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) provided refreshments for service members and a place to relax, call home and rest comfortably while waiting for their buses to depart to their flights at San Francisco and San Jose airports. Due to the volume of Presidio service members that depart for block leave every year in December FMWR uses an online ticketing and scheduling for participants to plan and book their shuttle destinations and travel times. A check-in and information desk was set up at the departure site to assist and ensure service members made a smooth connection to their flights. The program is coordinated and run by the Presidio Outdoor Recreation & Leisure Travel Services, but the entire administrative staff of the Presidio FMWR works the 24-hour departure period to ensure participants make it home for the holidays. In January FMWR "reverses" the program so that service members returning to the Presidio are bussed back from the airports safely and affordably.

Long after the 'advertised shuttles' had departed, there are always seemingly folks who manage to miss it.
In a tremendous and very spirited gesture on behalf of Bus Atha Cliath a few extra buses 'appear'. One does a sweep of Slane Village, and two or three wait at the boarding area for any last minute travellers.
Enviro 400 'EV76' has the honour at Slane 2013 long after the bewitching hour.
Lost ticket?, no problem. Jump aboard. No ticket even, no problem jump aboard. The balance of probability is that if you got there you probably had one anyway. All done with very good grace. Dublin Bus leave no one stranded at Slane. How many other operators can match that?

Members of dozens of nonprofits like the Jay Heritage Center attended the highly successful Association of Development Officers (ADO) Philanthropy Awards breakfast on Friday November 12, 2010. The event was a great opportunity for like minded professionals and volunteers to exchange ideas about improving our community through giving and education.
JHC President Suzanne Clary had the chance to talk to Westchester County's Chairman of the the Board of Legislators, Ken Jenkins, about making the historic Jay Property which is on the African American Heritage Trail and a Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area site more accessible to visitors. As it stands, many important African American heritage sites in Westchester are not serviced by public transportation. Clary suggested the implementation of a cooperative shuttlebus plan along the Boston Post Road reusing an existing County bus route.
The Jay Center is a great destination for schools who come to see JHC's acclaimed play "Striving for Freedom" about the Jay family and their role in the abolition of slavery but also for schools interested in JHC's other programs about environmental stewardship and sustainability as well as architecture and archaeology. The Jay Estate also has the distinction of a fully operational geothermal heating and cooling system which was installed in the 1838 Peter Augustus Jay House - at 174 years old that makes it the oldest National Historic Landmark structure in New York State with this green technology.
Many programs at the Jay Estate are free - the Jay Heritage Center raises all monies privately or through grants with no cost to taxpayers. JHC receives no funding from Westchester County, New York State or the City of Rye.
Clary accepted the award for Outstanding Nonprofit Board Member on behalf of all her colleagues and the work that they do together with other partner organizations.
JHC programs regularly examine the prevalence and injustice of slavery in New York's history. Among its goals, the JHC hopes to be "a national focal point for a continuing conversation about the two greatest pieces of unfinished American business--race and land; meaning how we treat each other and how we treat the rest of God's creation." The four ex First Bristol, Northern Counties Palatine 2 bodied Volvo Olympians disappeared from Bradford's streets during the summer but are now reappearing.
34143 is pictured here last Thursday operating the staff shuttle bus from Bowling Back Lane depot to Bradford Interchange. Today it was on the 670 Bradford to Leeds route.

Edinburgh International Climbing Arena is an adventure sports facility located in Ratho, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland. When it opened, it was the largest indoor climbing arena in the world.[1] The centre opened in 2003, but in 2005 the company running it went into receivership, and the centre was temporarily closed. In 2007 the centre reopened under a new owner, Edinburgh Leisure, a not-for-profit company part-funded by City of Edinburgh Council. Since then, visitor numbers to the centre have grown and parts that were not complete, like the office suites, have been completed.
The centre offers the world's largest indoor climbing arena, bouldering facilities, the Scottish National Judo Academy, and an aerial assault course. The centre was originally going to host a scuba diving tank, but this facility was delayed and later scrapped when the centre went into administration. The centre also has a gym that is specifically aimed at climbers with large amounts of strength and cardio equipment.
Coaching and training with an instructor is available, as well as courses including indoor movement skills, indoor lead climbing, and a few less standard climbing course such as sea stack and ridge climbing. Instructor training can lead to awards and qualifications upon completion. The centre runs off-site courses in outdoor climbing, skiing, hillwalking and water sports.
The climbing centre is located just to the west of the village of Ratho, and beside the M9 motorway, around 8 miles (13 km) from central Edinburgh. The centre is located in the former Ratho Quarry, which closed in 1905. The location was chosen because of the shape of the quarry, which allowed a roof to be placed over a section of it. Outside, the rest of the grounds were landscaped, and traditional climbing is available on the rock face of the quarry. Its location close to Edinburgh, around a 20 minute drive, meant a large potential customer base. The proximity of Edinburgh Airport means that climbers from all over Europe can visit the centre for a weekend. The airport is around a 20 minute walk from the facility, and a shuttlebus service operates between the two.
The climbing centre over the years has suffered a number a setbacks and problems with the construction and design of the facility. When the company that owned it back in 2005 went under, the roof was in dire need of repair. When it rained water would come through the roof and right down into the main arena. Climbers complained that the wall was constantly wet and wondered why a simpler design was not put forward that would have been more practical. This water also collected under the floor that was made out of locally sourced rock. Around the edge of the arena where the floor met with the bare rock water was visible just an inch under the floor level. Since the takeover by Edinburgh Leisure the roof problem has been mostly fixed and some repairs around the outside of the roof have been carried out.
Complaints about the temperature of the centre have also been raised a number of times. The main arena is not heated because of its size and therefore in winter temperatures can drop to almost 0°C inside. This made it very hard for climbers to get warmed up before performing a stressful activity. Since the takeover the arena is still not heated but there are small heaters placed around the floor where people can warm up between climbs.
