A little sign of life. The latest incarnation of the Shuttle Orbiter model animated in Blender with minifig for size reference ;-)
Building is at a bit of a low at the moment, but this _is_ coming.
This is a MOC of the Space Shuttle Atlantis. It is a LEGO Ideas project, so if enough people support it, it could become an official LEGO set. You can support it at ideas.lego.com/projects/f072bc4c-47a3-417e-98cb-5750fdac516d. It took around a month to build and uses approximately 2,500 parts. You can also see some of my other MOCs at my MOCpages www.moc-pages.com/home.php/131830
Discovery has earned a place of honor in the collection of national treasures preserved by the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The longest-serving orbiter, Discovery flew 39 times from 1984 through 2011 — more missions than any of its sister ships — spending altogether 365 days in space. Discovery also flew every type of mission during the space shuttle era and has a record of distinctions.

Just put Leds in my shuttle bay and wanted a shot of my Exo-planet survey shuttles. This is a moc i'm currently working on, A large scientific research vessel.
This is really just one shuttlecock (geeze, I can barely type that word lol) moving rapidly toward the camera. Just kidding. Lemme get this right out there-I love badminton. Not the bloop, bloop, rubber headed shuttle, back yard version of badminton that most North Americans are familiar with, but, the 200mph off the racket shuttle speed, requiring amazing footwork, lightening reflexes, mental acuity, and raw power version. Teaching badminton basics, and beyond, has been one of my greatest pleasures in coaching. I learned from one of the top coach/ coaches' coach in Canada. She was a former world ranked player, who now coaches internationally ranked players. And, she did it all with a birth deformity that would have caused most people to be content with just "good".
These shuttles in the pic were purchased in Malaysia about 12 or so years ago, by my son who was on a mission trip there for 6 months. He bought me a huge tube of Gosen S-260A Shuttlecocks as a gift. An amazing process goes into the precision making of each of these shuttles. Perhaps you've never heard of Gosen, but they are a Japanese manufacturer of tennis and badminton equipment. Not sure if they are even available in NA. Here in Canada, we have such badminton companies as Carlton, Black Knight, Yonex, Wilson, Prince and Head. I currently own a Yonex (also Japanese). I also own about 8 vintage rackets. Both the wooden vintage, and the modern poly carbonate/titaniun/all kinds of unique materials rackets, are like works of art. Gorgeous, sexy lines, they feel like an extension of your arm. Check out some top notch competition on Youtube if you don't believe me at how competitive this game is, when played properly. Badminton is wildly popular in many Northern European countries, as well as most of Asia/ SE Asia.
Full disclosure- I was partially blinded by a shuttlecock to the eye, back in my early days of playing. I took a smash to the lower portion of my left eye from about 6 feet away. It caught just enough of the bone, to prevent my eye from being exploded. lol For three days, there was a black band across the top of my vision. What happened was that I had a partially detached retina, which with time developed into what my ophthalmologist calls a retinal dialysis. Of course, I found this all out about 10 years after the incident. I have always been left eye dominant, so, I'm not sure how that would have affected the rest of my life had I lost my sight then, but, I didn't, so, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. lol

Shuttle Buses main service fleet is entirely made up of Optare Solo's, all mostly second hand with a few being new to the company.
The company have been expanding their local service work in recent years and alongside their SPT MyBus work, they run local services in Dalry, Largs and around Irvine, this of course in addition to their various School and private hire work.
YJ59PKF is one of two Solo's new to CumfyBus and is Shuttle's fleet number 8.
E346WYS was a Renault S56 / Alexander B25F new as Clydeside Scottish number 346 in January 1988. It passed to Clydeside 2000 before disposal to Spencer of Leven. It Joined Shuttle Buses and ran for a short time in Spencer's livery. It was purchased by Neil Stafford and restored back into Clydeside Scottish colours, although I believe it was later scrapped.

Connecticut might call this the Hartford Line now, but somehow I suspect the old name will not die quietly.
Shuttle 493, with a fairly unusual south-facing leader, heads south over the big bridge at Enfield. A MOW window on the single track would follow before CSO-1 could come north.

A standard shuttle pod that is flexible for all sorts of missions.
I tried to add just enough red to make it interesting. This build all started with the blue windshield. I like how the windshield is large enough to give a good view of the inside.
This is the landing shuttle/tender craft for my SHIP, the Arrowhead. It is mainly meant for surface excursions while the Arrowhead remains in orbit, as it does not have the reserve fuel to perform multiple landings and surface launches to orbit.
Space Shuttle Columbia being ferried back to Kennedy Space Center on 2001-Mar-5. This was as it passed over Tallahasee FL after Columbia was refurbished in California. Unfortunately, Columbia disintegrated during re-entry less than 2 years later. These photos were shot with hand held 500mm lens, hence the motion blur.

Obviously based on the NASA space shuttle, this is what I believe a near- or far-future one would look like, with big powerful engines capable of leaving orbit without rocket assistance.
I could have made it more sleek by omitting the giant tailfin, but it just looks so iconic and "right" with it. If there is a single vehicle that embodies the true spirit and success of humanity better than the space shuttle, I don't know what it is.

This is the direction I had hoped to go in with this but didn't until now.
