Slwoing down the rushing water doesn't have the same effect with dogs running back and forth in the composition. I think after the first leap she thought she could hop across from rock to rock without getting too wet. Neither of my dogs likes swimming.

The nice thing about night photography when your subject is glowing is that you don't need to play with light too much. With the aperture set to let in the most light, the glowsticks are bright enough to show up clearly in the photo. I had the shutter speed somewhere around half a second, which was obviously long enough to show the light of the glow sticks, but it wasn't long enough to get that pretty motion trail like when photographing moving traffic.
Luckily, after sitting there for over an hour, a few cars went by, one after another, and I was FINALLY able to get this effect that I was trying so hard to replicate from the examples!
