Someone (decided to leave the expletives out!!!) smashed my wing mirror this week. Imagine how disappointed I was UNTIL.....I saw this week's theme for the Smile on Saturdays group this morning!!!!

Another from a very cold and foggy day in Worcestershire. This huge and magnificent old Oak tree took an absolute battering during the last storm, and the main trunk of the tree broke clean off leaving the side branches. The debris surrounding the tree is what remains of the main trunk. It was one of a number of oak trees that were a feature of Capability Brown's original design. Sadly several have now reached the end of their days.

I was playing with a broken mirror in preparation for this week's CC theme - Fun with Mirrors. I shot it yesterday so this is not date eligible. I placed the broken mirror pieces on top of a glass framed shot of a bluebird.

Shattered glass.
This is now the remnants of what was once an orphanage which commenced operations in 1913 till 1978.
As with such orphanages there are strongly supported allegations of abuse against those who were entrusted to the care of the administrators.
The view from this shattered window looks into the bathroom at the wash basins and showers.
Perhaps the shattered glass is a reflection of the shattered lives of those who endured so much.
