Combination of two of the Macro Mondays Challenges for this year: "Damage" and "Sidelit". The lighting was provided by a hand-held torch.
This pendant was a favourite of mine, bought on a trip to Venice. The tie gave way and it shattered on a concrete floor.
Never let something go to waste! It will become a photography prop from here on in!
I took a walk with my camera, around the quieter back streets of our local town, at the beginning of this week. I saw several things, which generally go unnoticed, that I found interesting. These broken panes drew my eye, as each shattered pane had formed a different pattern.
Lots of small snail on the Oak leaves yesterday. I didn't notice the damage to this one until I was processing the image.
How my life feels at the moment. It's only temporary.

There's an interesting story here. One morning I was replacing a window in my garage...you might think I dropped it right? well not so fast. I did the work and laid the glass on the floor to do something else. When I returned to dispose of the glass, I noticed this beautiful light coming across the garage floor. I also noticed I had laid the glass on top of some blue paint marks on the floor, of course I saturated the blue, so I stood there and thought, what can I do with this? I got a small hammer and tapped the glass in a couple of places shattering it as you see it here and the rest is history.
I suppose the moral of the story is this; " pay attention to how light affects a subject" because you never know where your next image will come from.
Glass from a car window. This piece is about an inch across and was among thousands seen on the side of the road. Who can resist a piece of junk that could someday make it into MM. Lighting is natural light and some extra focus was added with a seven shot focus stack.
Sometimes the lens through which we look at things can create a fractured sense of reality. The sky above us can appear shattered, but by shifting our gaze slightly we can see it better for what it really is. Still, fractures do happen, too. Sometimes it's not a matter of either/or, but both/and, yin & yang. "We see through a glass darkly...." (St. Paul). "The cracks--that's how the Light gets through." (Leonard Cohen)

my apologies for those with groups that do not allow photos showing blood. my use is for artistic expression for a fantasy photo, and I belong to too many groups for me to read the rules of every single one. I do understand if my photo gets a rejection. Thank you.
"Cause i'm awake, when i gotta sleep
And when i ache, i forget to breathe,
and when i fail, when i try to heal.. I speak, i shatter.
Because i lie, when i tell the truth
and no one ever compares to you..
And when you left me
I think you knew
I can't get better
I live, i shatter.
Speak, i shatter
Cry, i shatter
I shatter...
I raise my head and i know... my scars will show. "
