I just love this this sharpener, its limbs and head bob up and down while you sharpen...always makes me giggle!

I received this pseudo-camera pencil sharpener and a couple of new pencils from my Son and Daughter-In-Law for Fathers Day last week and just got around to taking a snap of it today. I couldn't resist doing a bit of selective color to the image for Slider Sunday. Happy HSS

Our Daily Challenge: March 8: Sharp
I had a lot of different ideas for this challenge and ended up playing with various compositions of this ... I chose this one for the clarity and light on the sharpener... and it was also the composition I liked the best of those I took. I hope everyone is having a great week so far!
After messing around with this and then uploading it and adding it to the group, I see a few shots of sharpened pencils...LOL!! Its funny though with a few of them, not any look remotely alike.. just another reason why I love photography...so much room for individual interpretation...
I'll have to make my commenting rounds in the morning... I know I'm behind a bit and I'm sorry but I will do my best to get caught up!!

Golden Hour waning, I traded my perch for a table at the completely delish Alabama Hills Cafe (not pictured)
I'd gained my perch and captured my first keeper by 6:54:01 am. I then enjoyed the first rays of the sun in joyous solitude. By the time I snapped this pic, 25 minutes later, a horde of would-be photographers had arrived to find the best spot taken—by me! Maybe I'm becoming a photographer after all :(

This handpainted wooden pencil sharpener is less than 2" tall, and the Internet generally seems to believe that he's from the 1950s, made in China, and meant to represent the Zodiac sign Leo. He was a rummage sale find that I couldn't resist.
He's a little sad at the moment, because the shiny fancy modern pencils behind him come pre-sharpened, but he knows his turn will come, eventually.
sharpeners in our store. it was slow day at my work so i decided to take some pictures around the store. so i lined the sharpeners into rows and snap it toward the lights on the counter.

I really don't know how old this knife is. It must be well over 30 and it's still sharp. Unfortuately it doesn't get to go out much now.

Today's prompt was for a pencil sharpener. This is my pencil sharpener. It's a Swann Morton scalpel holding a Swann Morton No 11 blade. I used to use a standard sharpener with a built-in tub to hold the shavings, but the scalpel allows me to shave a much longer and narrower point on the pencil which doesn't need sharpening quite as much as a standard rotary sharpener.
The only problem with the scalpel is that changing blades is difficult. I use a fine pair of pliers to twist the blade out and carefully twist a new blade into place. Oh yes, and remember that these are surgical quality steel blades. They are liable to cut more than pencils if you're not careful!!

*** 2 weeks ago i couldn't find a pencil sharpener to save my soul (sad for a retired teacher to say), then i went to a church bazaar and found this. it truly was the only one there (of any color), so i didn't buy it just because it was blue-- honest!!
