The U34CH's normal haunts were on the New York Division and were sent all the way to Hornell usually on weekends when the need arose.Commuter service was in lesser demand on weekends allowing the long trip. 3372,built in 04-1971, would later be renumbered 4172 by NJTR.There is only one surviving U34CH left,3372, and it is now owned by the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey Inc.of Boonton N.J.with plans for future restoration. 3372 was the star of the Farewell To The U34CH trip that took place on 08-27-1994.A special thanks to Michael William Sullivan for some of the info provided. The London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR) A1 Class is an English class of 0-6-0T steam locomotive. Designed by William Stroudley, 50 members of the class were built in 1872 and between 1874 and 1880, all at Brighton Works. The class has received several nicknames, initially being known as "Rooters" by their south London crews. However, the engines were more famously known as "Terriers" on account of the distinctive 'bark' of the exhaust beat.

Sprinter New Generation

Sprinter New Generation or SNG: The Sprinter New Generation (abbreviated SNG) is an electrically driven type of trainset of the Dutch Railways or Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The trains are designed and built by the Spanish train builder Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF), who bases the trains on the Civity platform. The trains are primarily intended to replace older train equipment (primarily the Urban Regional Material (NS SGMm)), but are also intended for the growth of the number of passengers on the Hoofdrailnet or main rail network.

The Sprinter New Generation is characterized by a spacious interior, with much light and space. This is achieved through the use of Jacobs bogies , resulting in wide-body and spacious transitions. The low floor makes the train easier to access for the disabled.

An East Midlands class 156 two car set comes past March West Junction on a Liverpool to Norwich service. These sevices are booked for the class 158s but I have had one myself from Chesterfield to Ely when the booked class 158 failed.

East Midlands inherited this fleet of 11 units from Central Trains and apart from the new house colours have been internally refurbished. They are certainly in better nick than the AGA shabby ones.Anyway instead of a trip to Skegness it is having a change of scenery and going to Norwich instead.

The Morayvia Museum is well worth a visit, I found the staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable (many are ex air or ground crew). Their collection is continually being added to, in fact space may become a challenge for them soon, highly recommended.

Biak (New Guinea), 1950s

This photo was a gift from a friend many years ago. His father was in the Marineluchtvaartdienst (Dutch Naval Air Sevice) and had served in New Guinea in the 1950s.

The Dutch Navy (8 and 321 squadron) had 17 Martin PBM5 Mariner amphibians between 1955 and 1960. Their service was a succession of disasters. Seven crashed with the loss of many lives.

16-301 was scrapped in Biak after 1960.

The Class 86 was the Class 47 or Black 5 of the Electric Loco world in the UK. The 100 loco's worked everything and everywhere on the WCML and even migrated to the Great Eastern and ECML as well. They were powerful but mostly ignored!

However, now that they have gone from regular service, they are much missed.

The three preserved examples still keep a presence to this day.

Their use with Cross Country saw them work between Birmingham and Manchester and points North to Scotland on the remaining Loco Hauled services that ran
