Sperry Rail Sevice Car #138 is working westbound checking for rail flaws on the ex Erie New Jersey and New York Railroad in Park Ridge N.J. on 12-02-1976.Conrail is just about 7 months into operating the EL at this time.My family moved here in 1956 when i was four years old into an apartment across the tracks from the boxcar on the siding at Bratt & Doxey Building Supply. The railroad caught my interest immediately and that interest has never since wavered over 60 years later.I no longer live in this town and the changes that have come about are sometimes hard to accept when looking back to the way things were. There were 3 Semaphore masts (two showing in the photo with one lit green for the Sperry) that are gone.Bratt and Doxey Building Supply suffered two devastating fires and a condo complex now occupies the area where the white storage building is on the right. There is now a commuter parking on the left after the Madison Avenue Crossing in the distance where their bulk supply yard used to be. One of my first jobs was stacking used bricks into pallets for resale by Bratt & Doxey at this same location.Dirtiest job that i have ever had dealing with that brick dust. The Park Avenue crossing is down to one track now with the siding being ripped out.The railroad station, where i spent most of my summer vacations with the station agent Joe, has been restored with a replica of the original cupola added to the roof and is now open as a commuter waiting room.Joe arranged for my first ride in a diesel locomotive cab being an Erie Alco RS2 or RS3. Depot Square located directly to the left of the station has been redesigned but amazingly still serves as an area for townsfolk to gather on special occasions throughout the year.I could go on with other details but the more important ones were already mentioned.Howard Kent Jr. photo.

Former Gas Station in Ray.. The northside of Ray is in Michigan as the gas station is and the southside of Ray was in Indiana.. Today Ray is pretty much a Ghost Town and what remains is falling to the ground, Ray was a booming town 90 years ago

TS. 'Pelican of London' a sail training ship based in Weymouth, Dorset in the United Kingdom. Built in 1948 as 'Pelican' she served as an Arctic trawler and then a coastal trading vessel named 'Kadett' until 1995. Laid up in 1995 and after many years of being re-built as a sail-training ship. She re-entered sevice in 2007.

To carry forward the story of the landmark heritage restaurants of India, here is a portrait of a waiter cheerful and radiant as he waited just for a moment to stand still amidst the hustle of the bustling waiters, customers, clatter of cups and plates and the steady drone of the conversation at the Indian Coffee House in New Delhi.

The cummerbund and the turban are worn only by the waiters who have achieved a set number of years in the establishment. If anyone wants to know, how many, just ask.

Shot on location at the Indian Coffee House, Mohan Singh Place, Connaught Place, New Dehi, India for BBC GoodFood.

Photo shows two buses stopped for food and gas on the route connecting Camp Petawawa / Petawawa and Pembroke.

Clipped from - The Ottawa Citizen newspaper - Ottawa, Ontario, Canada - 26 January 1945 - Although the army operates regular bus service between Petawawa camp and Pembroke, and this is supplemented by twice daily trips by the Anderson bus line, the growth of the army camp led some Pembroke residents to go into the taxi business as a means of picking up a few extra dollars. The. number of these "independents" operating only their own family automobiles has fallen off recently but a fair number of them are still in business.

Eugene Giesebrecht, is known as one of Petawawa's pioneer entrepreneurs. In 1910 he opened a store and restaurant in the fledgling village of Petawawa. His business grew into the first general store and post office, where he manufactured ice cream, soft drinks and cement blocks. In 1934, he became one of the first Pepsi Cola franchisees in Canada.

Route 64 Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog to Llangollen has seen much change since the demise of GHA Coaches whom inherited this Wrexham BC tendered service with the Bryn Melyn business. The current operator from 1st April 2017 is easyCoach based in Shrewsbury who gained the long term tender to operate light from Shrewsbury to take this sevice (soon to be linked by positional X70 workings to and from Oswestry).

Previous to that Tanat Valley took on the service on a emergency basis following the ill fated RJs of Wem been closed down by the traffic commissioner due to the involvement of the former GHA directors.

This TransBus baded MPD has been much travelled. It was new to Ashalls Coaches of Clayton, passing to fellow Manchester operator JPT of Middleton and Filers Travel of Ilfracombe and a short tenure at RJ's of Wem where it indeed saw service on this exact service!

2006 Scania P 270 9.0

One of NFRS's older Scania fire appliances answering a shout on the Hoveton side of the River Bure in the Norfolk Broads.

Not sure what was going on but all three sevices seemed to be responding to the same incident.

A few hundred yards to the right of this shot lies the River Bure. On one side of the bridge that crosses it is Hoveton and on the opposite side is Wroxham. However, most people (locals aside) presume that the whole area is Wroxham.

Having the 'Roys of Wroxham' complex of shops on the Hoveton side of the river probably doesn't help matters. With Roys having been there since 1899 I can't see it changing the name any time soon!

EYMS Volvo B7RLE/MCV C123 YX14HDV (383) seen as it heads away from Walkington towards Little Weighton whilst operating the 14:45 Beverley-Hull 63.

The 63 was introduced as part of EYMS' wide-ranging May 2018 service changes. The sevice operates every fifteen minutes between Hull city centre and Setting Dyke, every thirty to Cottingham, and every hour to Beverley. A similar frequency was offered by the route's predecessors, though this was split across services 60, 60A, 61, 62, 63, and 180. The 'via the villages' service to Beverley has been mostly operated from Beverley depot in the recent past, however space is at a premium in what is a small yard as the depot took on the bulk of the Hull to Hornsea routes when Hornsea depot closed in May. Consequently, six out of the seven vehicles required on the 63 come from Hull depot, with only one from Beverley.

Passing the ornate Young & Martens shop at Stratford is RMC1495 on Route 721 - on 10/4/71. This was an unusual occurence as the usual vehicle on this sevice was a RCL. However, the 723 route operated by Grays garage was undergoing cutbacks at the time so presumably a few surplus RMC's found their way to RE (Romford London Rd. )garage which operated the 721. Single-deckers took over the 721 only 9 months later and in 1977 the route was withdrawn - unthinkable some 20 years earlier when I was a regular passenger to Aldgate.

Elgin Joliet & Eastern Railway Mr. Safe J at Joliet, Illinois on February 13, 1965, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The following is from a spreadsheet by T. C. Madden: This car was placed in sevice by Pullman on April 21, 1928, Lot 6125, Plan 3959A. originally named Crystal Beach. Air conditioning was added on June 18, 1934, and it was renamed Golden Beach on September 3, 1937. It was sold to the EJ&E on February 11, 1955. In a comment to Marty Bernard's photo of the same car Jerry LaBota adds: This car was a Pullman 3 Comp - 2 DR - buffet lounge observation, formerly Golden Beach, originally Crystal Beach.

This was at the Flying Festival 2019 held at Old Warden Airfield by the Shuttleworth Collection.

AR501 saw wartime sevice with 310 (Czech) Squadron. She also featured in the film Battle of Britain ( with elliptical wing tips fitted).

Two restorations seem to have taken place since then. The first one resulting in a return to the skies during 1975. The second done over very many years saw AR501 fly again in 2018. I was lucky enough to see some of this restoration in progress over a couple of much earlier vists to the Shuttleworth Collection hangers.
