Many years ago I purchased a Sony VG10E camcorder and it came with a wonderful kit lens the SEL18200 [18mm - 200mm F3.5 - 6.3] and since then it has been my lens of choice when using my NEX-7 or NEX-5 cameras. I really like the lens but as it is not designed for full-frame cameras I was afraid that it would not work well with the A7RM2 so today I decided to test the combination. The Sony A7RM2 can be set to crop-mode but this greatly reduces the resolution of the images but based on experience I know that I had no option but to set the camera to APS-C mode.
After taking about 250 photographs I am convinced that the SEL18200 works very well combined with the A7RM2 and I am certain that this combination outperforms the NEX-7/SEL18200 combination [I really do hope that this is not wishful thinking on my part]. At this stage I should mention that battery life is becoming an issue as I am not only getting between 100 and 200 images per charge … in the case of the NEX-7 is was getting about 300 images per charge.
The Rush Sunday Civic Service was first introduced by William Canynge, who was Mayor of Bristol five times. He was one of the richest merchants in Bristol in the 15th century and after he completed the restoration of the church he gave up all his worldly possessions to become a priest. He was ordained in 1468 and sang his first mass at St Mary Redcliffe Church on Whitsunday that year.
It was 25 years later that William Spenser, Mayor of Bristol, instituted the service to commemorate William Canynge, and until the Reformation it was three sermons on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday following Whitsunday.
The service takes its name from the rushes and herbs that are strewn on the floor.
The service is now held on Whitsunday. It’s the most colourful Bristol procession with the City Swordbearer carrying the Pearl Sword wearing his Elizabethan Cap of Maintenance. The Lord Mayor, Lady Mayoress, and City Councillors wear their scarlet robes and carry posies of spring flowers (originally these were nosegays of herbs for protection against infection). The eight City Maces are carried by an escort of Police Macebearers under command of a Sergeant at Mace.
Rushes are strewn in the aisles of the church, which was described by Queen Elizabeth I as, "the fairest, goodliest and most famous parish church in the kingdom" in the medieval fashion.
The Lord Mayor travels from the Mansion House to the church in the Landau carriage with a mounted police escort. He joins the Civic Procession from the Undercroft (which is on the lower floor of the church) via Pump Lane and Colston Parade to the West Door. The arrival of the Lord Mayor is greeted with a fanfare from the City Trumpeters.

U.S. Department of Agriculture USDA Agricultural Research Service ARS Sugarcane Research Unit Research Geneticist Anna Hale, Ph.D. examines the specialized greenhouses used to gerninate and grow energy cane from seed sections to full size varieities of sugar cane at the Ardoyne Farm facility; here scientists developed and released a new high-fiber variety of sugarcane, or energy cane, Ho 06-9002, in Houma, LA, and continue their research on December 13, 2021. Sugarcane is one of the most efficient producers of biomass of all plant species and can be used as a renewable fuel. The new variety has a high fiber content, excellent regrowth ability over 4 to 5 years, is cold-tolerant, has a high stalk population, and produces excellent biomass yields. Ho 06-9002 showed no symptoms of brown rust or smut when exposed to high levels of natural inoculum. Mosaic disease, caused by either sugarcane mosaic virus or sorghum mosaic virus, was not observed in the variety under natural field conditions. Its most significant attribute is cold tolerance and the ability to yield high biomass in non-traditional sugarcane growing regions.
The ongoing studies are conducted in cooperation with the Department of Energy; university extensions, and industry organizations.

Lane County Gypsy Moth Eradication Program (mid-1980s):
The Oregon Department of Agriculture is the lead agency for the gypsy moth detection program in Oregon. Agencies involved in the eradication program included the Oregon Department of Agriculture, USDA APHIS, USDA Forest Service, Oregon Department of Forestry, and private timber companies.
Three gypsy moths were initially detected in 1982 in the town of Lowell in west-central Oregon. These moths were caught in pheromone-baited traps during surveys conducted annually by the Oregon Department of Agriculture. In 1983, four more moths were caught in Lowell. After the trapping program was intensified in 1984, over 19,000 moths were caught in or near Lowell.
In the late spring of 1985, 226,045 acres were treated with Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki. Later that fall, the intensive trapping program identified additional infested areas in the same general area. Followup treatments with Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki were applied in 1986 (189,011 acres), 1987 (7,235 acres), and 1988 (2,995 acres). In addition to the aerial application of biological insecticides, State and federal quarantines were established in 1985 covering ~1,200 square miles to prevent people from moving gypsy moths out of the infested area. No further treatments were required after 1988. The total cost of the Lane County eradication program (including detection, eradication, and trapping) from 1984 to 1989 was about $18,000,000.
