Standing outside the tramshed at Beamish Museum is this beautifully restored 1947 Bristol L5G of Durham District Services.
The bus, registered HHN 202, was new to United Automobile Services in 1947 as fleet number BLO202. It was allocated to subsidiary company Bell's Services of Westerhope until it returned to the United fleet as BG216 in 1951. It was re-bodied in 1957 and two years later was transferred to United subsidiary Durham District Services as DB216.
The bus was sold for preservation in 1968.
The Bristol L was introduced in 1937 and, during its production run almost 3,300 were manufactured. Of these 574 were supplied to United Automobile Services, more than twice as many than to any other operator.
The vehicle was at Beamish for their 16/17 July 2022 bus event.

Built to serve the mining and timber industries of the California’s Mother Lode, construction of the Sierra Railway from Oakdale to Jamestown in 1897 brought reliable transportation to the region for the first time. The line was extended to Sonora in 1899. By 1900, the Sierra connected with the West Side Flume and Lumber Company in Tuolumne City.
The Sierra established its headquarters and maintenance shops in Jamestown, now site of Railtown 1897, the Historic Sierra Railroad Shops.
The Jamestown shops remained intact, serving the occasional needs of the motion picture and television industries. Over 200 movies, TV shows, and commercials have featured Railtown and its trains.

Earlier today, 11 November 2022, Greater Manchester Police's Chief Constable Stephen Watson was joined by Baroness Bev Hughes, Deputy Mayor for Policing, Crime, Criminal Justice and Fire, and family members of fallen colleagues for a remembrance service at Sedgley Park.
All those in attendance proudly stood together to remember colleagues who sadly lost their lives in the line of duty and all others who have died during conflicts throughout history.

Back in 1905, our very first patrols rode motor bicycles and warned motorists about upcoming speed traps, and by 1919 our fleet had grown to include motorcycles with sidecars. Known as Road Service Outfits (RSOs), they were made by the likes of Chater Lea, Triumph and BSA. This example is a 1973 Triumph T100 Tiger. Now in service with Western National as it's 812 after it acquired with Plympton Coachlines this former Plymouth Park-Royal bodied Atlantean 255 which hadn't gone very far at all as it's passengers boarded it on a delightfully miserable Royal Parade one dreadful wet December day in 1987 for Devonport.
