Back in the good old days, there was an open car in the consist of the Steam fan trips. This trip was between Chattanooga, Tenn. and Lexington Ky. The engine has been serviced and is following the cars moved by a diesel to enable a runaround. Lunch has been served and we will be soon heading up the rails again.
Norfolk and Western Railway's J class steam locomotives were a class of 4-8-4 locomotives built by the Norfolk and Western Railway's East End Shops in Roanoke, Virginia between 1941 and 1950. 611 was built in 1950 as a streamlined engine unlike some of its relatives. They were equipped with 300 psi boilers, 70-inch (1,778 mm) driving wheels, and roller bearings on all wheels and rods. The locomotives were designed for high speed service and could top 110 mph.

This Leyland Fleetline FE30AGR / Alexander AL style body was new in July 1976 to A1 member James Murray , but by the time this shot was taken it had passed to another member. In this case it was Robert Meney , whose garage was in Dalry Road, Saltcoats and it is seen here on a Saturday night about 6 o'clock getting cleaned and fuelled up ready for it's next spell of duty. On disposal it saw further service with Marbill of Beith.

62151 heads passed the Grandholm walkway enroute to ARI. Grandholm has generated much more extra passengers than Balgownie Drive buys Aberdeen City Council has ruled installing a bus stop so that the 9 could serve Grandholm is too costly.

OJD199R was a Leyland Fleetline FE30AGR / MCW H44/24D purchased new by London Transport (DMS2199) in February 1977. On disposal in October 1983 it joined A1 Service with member Docherty of Irvine and was converted to H74F. It didn't remain long however and moved to Graham's of Paisley as their D10 (later renumbered to D3) in March 1985. In April 1990 it passed to Norfolk's of Nayland, and four months later was with Hall & Ashby t/a Circle Line of Gloucester. It went to Wigley of Carlton (dealer) for scrap in March 1995.
Don't yell ... but I blew it ... I meant to post this Monday - Veteran's Day in the US - he was selling counterfeit watches on a busy NYC street (I'm guessing counterfeit cause the Rolex's were just $10)... but I can't imagine a more fitting tribute to the veterans and their service than the proud expression he wears on his hardscrabble face ....
PS .... just realized it was Labor Day this week ... not Veteran's .... yikes ... my bad .... senior moment .... but I still stand by and enjoy and want to share my post … 💛💜💛 …

Although A1 buses seldom carried commercial adverts, sometimes the owner would promote some facet of their own business and we see an advert for Parkhouse Garage which was owned by The Duff Family of Ardrossan (...and still is).
ASD26T was a Leyland Fleetline FE30AGR / Alexander H78F purchased new in March 1979 and was caught whilst loading at Parkhouse Bus Stance. On disposal it would see further service with the Village Group in Liverpool.
This is actually the tech services center (along the front right sidewall), as opposed to the copy/print services center that's over my shoulder in this view. Again, this is yet another photo that could have come from the former Horn Lake store (now repurposed as an FFO Home store), seeing how the two OfficeMax locations were extremely identical in many ways!

This Sears store in Elyria, Ohio is closing in early September 2017.
The Midway Mall opened in 1966 with Higbee's, Sears, JCPenney, and Woolworth as anchor stores. Over the years, Higbee's became Dillard's (then closed in 2007) and Woolworth became Best Buy. A new south wing was added to Midway Mall in 1990. That wing featured a May Company department store (later Kaufmann's and Macy's before closing in early 2016).
As of Summer 2017, the Sears department store is closing and the mall has just been sold for $4.25 million on July 12th. As of writing this, the buyer of the mall has yet to be known. The rumors for what happens to the mall next are all over the place; they range from a hospital complex to a hotel / casino complex to a giant mobile home park (obviously a joke)...
Hopefully something actually is done rather than letting the mall slowly die like Randall Park or Rolling Acres did. At least the occupancy in this mall has stabilized for the small stores over the last couple years instead of continuing downward. The department store closings seem to be the biggest drain on the mall; JCPenney is the last traditional department store left at the mall after the Sears closing.
I decided to post these 130 photos as the photos that bring me over 10,000 photo mark on Flickr. I chose this mall because it is my hometown mall.
