the patches and signs on a service dog aren't suggestions - they are absolute commands. were i in a wheelchair or had some other apparatus to aid me in daily life, you wouldn't randomly approach me and start touching it. my dog is cute, friendly, loving, and happy. she is also at work anytime she is wearing her jacket, which is any time we are not at home. feel free to ask me questions, but do not talk to my dog, do not reach out to my dog, do not make and hold eye contact with my dog. she is on the job, and cannot be disturbed. a lot of people's time, effort and money went into her selection and training, all of it charity work. you are the human in the encounter - read the signs, and obey. it will help my dog do her job, which helps me live my life, and you and i can agree that she is cute and friendly without interfering with her purpose and focus.

New Haven Railroad DERS-2c ALCO RS3 locomotive # 544, is seen spotted on a track in what appears to be a locomotive service area at in unknown yard, early 1960's. In the background there appears to be a roundhouse at this location. The RS-3 is wearing a version of the McGinnis paint scheme, while the locomotive seen in the background is wearing the Alpert paint scheme. The 45 RS-3 locomotives purchased by the New Haven Railroad between 1950 & 1952 all had steam generators when originally purchased, so they could be used as dual service engines.

Having taken so many pictures of my rostered Fleetline at the Armthorpe terminus of our Sundays-only service 181, the need came over me to experiment with a night-time picture. I didn't have anything other than a semi-auto SLR, so this must have been taken on a favourite setting of "fortnight at F8" using the next concrete post around the inside of the kerbing.
The Leon Motors fleet was upgraded in the early 90's with many buses discarded by larger operators with nothing better to do than sell off perfectly good mid-life service buses. Four MCW bodied Fleetlines joined the fleet from WMPTE, this being the third one numerically (NOC391/435/465R, SDA561S). Like two of the others, it had Autosteer air-assisted power steering fitted, which did take some getting used to! All four were solid machines, warm and rattle free.
