Today's random Wikipedia page: fair-share scheduling, "a scheduling strategy for computer operating systems in which the CPU usage is equally distributed among system users or groups, as opposed to equal distribution among processes."
Today was Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor's lecture at UIC, through a lecture series of The College of Applied Health Sciences. Dr. Taylor is a neuroanatomist who experienced and later described her own stroke. She told us about the way the two sides of the brain operate in balance, somewhat reflecting fair-share scheduling. She described the left side as the serial processor, while the right is the parallel processor (which might require more of the fair-share scheduling, if we were to carry the metaphor).

Toronto-based world record breaker Suresh Joachim, who has notched up more than 30 in the Guinness Book--he "moonwalked" 30 km in 24 hours, for instance--celebrates the completion of 24 hours of continuous bowling with a trick shot at the Play Time bowling alley on Thursday afternoon. Joachim knocked down more than 56,000 pins during that time.
Strobist info: This is my most dismal off-camera lighting shot ever. Most egregiously, I gelled my SB-800 to fluorescent, thus losing that bowling alley aura that incandescent lighting gives off.
Then, I had someone hand-hold my snoot-less strobe (camera right) from the wrong side of the subject, so that his face gets a nice and ugly shadow across it. Finally, not once during 15 minutes of shooting and reviewing did I deeply question/review my approach (the gelling, lighting, etc).
Photoshop's burn and dodge were used to give the photo that "botched by a Photoshop amateur" look.
This sort of incompetence makes me want to junk all my photo gear.
