This outing to the local woods keeps on giving. The misty conditions opened up lots of compositions. After saying I don’t normally include people in my images, I did it again! I couldn’t miss this couple, almost identically dressed and contrasting against the green of the trees. To me it demonstrates how small we are in the scheme of nature!

▶ Meteorologically, autumn began on 1 September (even if astronomical autumn doesn't begin until 23 September). So, let's say this is an autumn butterfly!

▶ Thank you to Flickr-er Bárbol for identifying the butterfly species. (See comments below.)

Plas Newydd Llangollen.

The Ladies of Llangollen lived here for nearly 50 years.

This is The Victorian Water Tank in the gardens near the house.

It was a marvel of Victorian ingenuity, built to supply water to the busy kitchens and bathrooms.

It was designed to resemble a Dovecote and visitors were often surprised to learn of its

true purpose.

Wildfire smoke colors the morning light on domes above the Tuolumne River, Yosemite National Park.

Back in 2014 a group of us spent a week photographing in the Yosemite backcountry. We packed in to our first locations, spent a few days there, then moved along and ended up near the location of this photograph in the canyon of the Tuolumne River. While many have an impression of the Tuolumne formed by its leisurely passage through the Tuolumne Meadows area, other sections present a very different view.

Our stop here coincided with a very destructive wildfire in Little Yosemite Valley, and on the afternoon of our arrival the smoke had block the sun as ash floated down from the sky. Later much of the smoke blew in other directions, yet there was still a general smokiness in the atmosphere. That slightly brown haze colored the light in this early morning view of the canyon of the Tuolumne River.

We danced until the night

Became a brand new day

Two lovers playing scenes

From some romantic play

Still can make me feel that way" Neil Diamond , September Morn, 1979

Silent forest breathes—

mist curls around ancient limbs,

time forgets to move.

September mist shrouds the forest trees.

A misty day in mid September this year.

Butterflies and hummingbirds love tithonia and it is very easy to grow.

Thank you for looking at my photos. It is very much appreciated.

At home at 7:04 PM already on September 30th.

I was lucky enough to be out by the feeders when the birds came to visit and was happy to grab a quick shot of this little visitor.

I'm not too sure of the ID though, so if you know, please let me know. - Bird identified as a Yellow-rumped Warbler, thanks Stephen Tyson and Brennan Mulrooney for the ID!

Photo taken in early in Ontario Canada.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.

The tough thing about shooting Black Swallowtails is that they continually flutter. And, their wings move independently - in four parts. So it's challenging to get them entirely in focus. Like their hummingbird friends, they almost never land and just sit.

This is another one from Tom's gardens yesterday - one of a pair of exquisite Eastern Black Swallowtails loving the warm sunshine and Purpletop Vervain. At least you can see the beautiful colors of this Swallowtail and Tom's wonderful plantings.

Classes have started for me again so I'm off and running until late this evening. I'll catch up with your beautiful streams then. Have a wonderful Tuesday! :)

A storm front passing through in September.

Looking towards Pontcystyllte Aqueduct with a narrow boat going over it.

It's been a Summer of Monarchs. They've popped up almost everywhere from roadsides to rooftops, from parking lots to downtown cafes. But as September arrives, and the evenings get cooler, they won't be here too much longer. This one seemed to be gathering as much warmth as it could, just before sunset, on the top of a corn stalk early last evening.

With summer's best of weather,

And autumn's best of cheer."

Pipevine Swallowtails

This is the courtyard at Powis castle and they are spoiling it with the umbrellas and tables, when we visited in middle of September.

It better to go in March/April before they put them out.

Towers of Light. Unfortunately you can't see both from my apartment.

I really liked the way this plant looked in the sunlight this morning.
