Some of the bars have notches where the horses ropes wore them away over the years.
During our drought months over the summer we didn't have many good sunsets, but in September we had a run of really nice ones. So, time for a sunset series.
It's been a Summer of Monarchs. They've popped up almost everywhere from roadsides to rooftops, from parking lots to downtown cafes. But as September arrives, and the evenings get cooler, they won't be here too much longer. This one seemed to be gathering as much warmth as it could, just before sunset, on the top of a corn stalk early last evening.
It didn't take Tigelaar long to discover the window with the view of all the pigeons and he's quite happy with his new catTV.

After the onset of winter last week, there is still a lot of snow in the Alps. Be careful when planning your route - avalanches are possible.

I like how much pink is in this shot; I didn't realize just how pink this corner of my garden has this time of year, but I'm not complaining because it really helps this little bee stand out.

An incredible autumn sunset last night brought an end to the month of September. We awoke to a gentle rain, much needed on our parched earth here in Northern California. Hoping for more clouded skies with the promise of rain.

11 miles of stunning canal and countryside and spanning two countries, along Aqeducts, tunnels and viaducts.
The whole length of the site has been designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument of National Importance and an area of outstanding natural beauty.
A misty Autumn morning in the woods created some great atmosphere through the trees. The morning sunlight lit up the foreground trees, creating some warm tones in the autumn foliage, but failed to penetrate into the depths of the wood, leaving the background a mix of cool greens and blues. Loved the resulting colour contrasts and misty atmosphere.

Deep in the valley just west of Noxon, MT, a westbound BNSF manifest freight train approaches Cabinet Gorge on the warm and slightly smoky morning of Thursday, September 11, 2025.
After a cooler day yesterday the temperature has spiked back up and the insects are out and about today which works out well for photography.
