The long awaited restoration of the White Star Line building into the RMS Titanic hotel has finally been completed, and I popped in to have a look today. It is beautiful, this is just one of the stairwells. Here is a look at the rest of it :- www.rmstitanichotel.co.uk/

Black and white - pops of green. You know this screamed 'best of both worlds' when I passed by.

I know it's slightly flawed...but sometimes it's the flaws that make things interesting.

As usual, mike 90's judgement was spot on & to combat his comments I've warmed the mono part of the image, resulting in, I think a much more accomplished photograph. Seems to give it some atmosphere too.

This variegated holly bush in my garden still has plenty of berries. The birds have usually eaten them all by now. Perhaps a result of a milder winter.

117 pictures in 2017. #26/117. Selective Colour.

My vase is full of beautiful white flowers and lots of greenery! I noticed on the underside of this leaf lots of tiny bumps, I really don't know what they are as this seems to be the only one with them! x

Perfect subject for colour popping!

I couldn't get enough of this poppy field!!! Purple poppies all around.

Having not been to London for nearly a year, the first day of a 4 day weekend started revisiting places that I have been to before. I also added to my Football Stadium pin badges by getting one from each of the 3 stadiums. There will be a a visit to another stadium later in the year.

Assignment: PCA101 – Selective Colouring (Be Selective)

Date: Mar 28th - Apr 4th 2010)

Image Tag: pca101

From: Donald Macleod

Selective Colouring:

So, my return to PCA sees me contemplating the subject matter for Assignment 101. My thoughts immediately turned to the famous Orwellian Room 101 from from the novel '1984', a place where what you hate and fear most is used as a thing of torture to break the spirit.

An obvious initial thought was a compositional 'The thing I hate is..' but that kind of challenge doesn't exactly inspire, so my next thought was the photographic techniques that people love to hate.

Since we've already done HDR in PCA45, my next thought was the much over-used and controversial 'Selective Colouring'.

The Mission:

You challenge for this week is to produce and image that demonstrates that the use of 'Selective Colouring' can be effective and of artisitc and creative merit.

WIT

Two images. One of a wall in the Arts Centre cafe. The other is of my cup of coffee on the cafe table.

In PSE5, (as much as I can recollect), I selected the mouth and made a layer from cut from original image.

I then made the remainder b&w.

I made the cup into a layer, made it b&w and duplicated it.

As far as I can remember (aargh), I blended using hard light, but I think I might have multiplied one of the cup layers onto the background.

I always feel a little uncomfortable with 'borrowed' art, but I hope I made this sufficiently my own final image.

well the weather best change soon or i am going to explode with fedupness!!....

I wandered the house all day looking and even tho i have this i'm still not really happy with it.... i didn't really pay proper attention to composition etc either... probably because my heart wasn't in it!...

Any way sun.. if you can hear me............FOR GODSAKE SHOW YOUR FACE!!!... don't you realise there are some crazy fools trying to do a 365 here and we need you before we all give up!!!

I'm half crazy, all for the love of you;

It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage

If my kids being chosen...surely they wont go .. they are still kind of afraid doing this kind of thing
