The Temptations - Smiling Faces Sometimes
Smiling faces sometimes pretend to be your friend
Smiling faces show no traces of the evil that lurks within
Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes
They don't tell the truth uh
Smiling faces, smiling faces
Tell lies and I got proof
The truth is in the eyes
Cause the eyes don't lie, amen
Remember a smile is just
A frown turned upside down
My friend let me tell you
Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes
They don't tell the truth, uh
Smiling faces, smiling faces
Tell lies and I got proof
Whilst walking in Kiev, Karl my workmate spotted and took this photo of this colourful girl heading into the church, I have no idea what she will be praying for but I think she has been really bad!

The statue, named All Together Now, was designed by sculptor Andy Edwards and depicts a British and a German soldier greeting each other with a football by their side. Located at the bombed out church of St. Luke's in Liverpool, it commemorates that extraordinary event from World War I - in December of 1914, soldiers from both sides, emerged from the trenches to celebrate Christmas and play a game of football. A rare moment of peace in a bloody conflict.

The marble had imperfections so the refracted image isn't as clear as I had wanted...but I'm happy with the overall look :)

A bus queue in Deansgate, Manchester. Every one of the people in the queue looked miserable apart from the couple in the middle - I couldn't have posed it better! I was sitting having a coffee outside a cafe on the other side of the road, and just snapped it.

7:52 Shoot your subject from behind
I felt a bit stalkerish shooting this couple with my 18-35 outside a mall as they took a break from shopping and she sheltered from the tropical sun. My first attempt at selective colour in LR - was rushed so it's clumsy and a few stubborn bits of fuschia remain.
Arguably the most iconic toadstool species, the fly agaric is a large white-gilled, white-spotted, usually red mushroom, and is one of the most recognizable and widely encountered in popular culture.

"Dedicated in 1935, Valley of Fire is Nevada's oldest state park. It is located only 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas. The rough floor and jagged walls of the park contain brilliant formations of eroded sandstone and sand dunes more than 150 million years old. These features, which are the centerpiece of the park's attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays".

Rose Seidler House is one of Australia's most famous buildings and one of its most unusual. The house is the work of architect Harry Seidler, who had the idea already sketched before he even set foot on Australian soil.
Completed in 1950, Rose Seidler House immediately created a sensation. The house featured glass walls, asymmetrical composition, cubic shapes and a flat roof; this was architecture unlike anything built in Australia before.
Rose Seidler House won the RAIA Sir John Sulman Medal for 1951, one of the most prestigious awards in Australian architecture and the first of five he won. Harry Seidler was 28 years old. Bringing international modernist ideas and methodology, he almost immediately influenced the shape of local architecture to come.

"Poetry is what gets lost in translation" [Robert Frost]
La poésie est ce qui s'est perdu lors de la traduction ... (la part des anges en somme)
