Photo-Scan

This was the 5th self-portrait I created using my classroom scanner. I liked this one, even though there is a dark blemish underneath my eye from where I flickered my eyes open and shut, thus catching my eyelashes both above and below my eye. It is odd, the scanner refuses to blur objects, catching them in perfection, where ever they happen to be. Odd technology all in all. More fun and play.
For my first assignment for Photo 112 Creative Explorations, we used these badass scanners to make images. It is amazing all the stuff you can do with them. For this one, I made it scan with the light on the top (transparency mode) and negative for the colors. The objects I used were a domo tag, ribbons, a slinky, 2 bead necklaces, and a crinkled up bag of maple syrup. I laid a sheer scarf over the top of it. I have so many different images from this, I made 30 because it actually takes kind of a long time to do. This is just the one that I chose to submit for the assignment.

I think I'm going to try and make a hand-held whiteboard scanner. Could come in handy at work and at home.
This HP Scanjet 4070 Scanner that I'm trying to troubleshoot to no avail is giving me this result under all settings.
My first attempt at a scanned/photographic image. These are magnolia petals from a tree in my neighborhood arranged in a star shape. Turned out pretty darn cool!
