On Saturday, October 20 the 7th Annual Save-A-Limb Ride, Walk and Festival took place at Oregon Ridge Park. Participants took part in a 6, 15 and 30 mile bike ride or a 1-mile family walk. Guests included Chris Horner (Winner of the 2011 Tour of California), Robbie Ventura (Professional Rider and Tour de France Commentator), Earl Cole(winner of Survivor Fiji) and the Maryland Batman!
The money raised from the event will help individuals around the world who experience joint ailments and limb deformities.

The city of Copenhagen has announced that forty bunkers around Copenhagen will be flattened. Among them the precious ones by Queen Louises Bridge, and the hilly landscape. These spots are popular BECAUSE of the hills, and the buffer they make from the roaring traffic on the other side. Not to mention how they break the wind. If the bunkers go, so will all the old trees. Yes, new ones will be planted, like the twig you spot behind the Nile statue. Is this in the best interest of Copenhagen? Really?
Wir Jaggies (die Jugendlichen von Greenpeace) haben eine Aktion gegen Überfischung gemacht. Wir standen auf der Reesendammbrücke auf dem Jungfernstieg. Wir hatten ein großes Banner mit der Aufschrift "Save Our Seas" und einen Infostand mit vielen Flyern und dem neuen Fischführer dabei, den wir auch an interessiete Passanten verteilt haben. Außerdem hatten wir einen großen roten Fisch aus Holz auf dem wir auf blauen Pappkarten Unterschriften gesammelt haben, bis der Fisch schließlich ganz blau und somit gerettet war. Insgesamt haben wir 150 Unterschriften gesammelt, diese Sammelaktion war aber leider nur symbolisch, da es keine Unterschriftenlisten zu dem Thema gab.
Zudem haben sich ein paar von uns mit Hilfe von Schildern und Mülltüten als Fische verkleidet und wir hatten ein Garnelen-Kostüm (da wir leider keine richtigen Fischkostüme bekommen haben). Die Garnele wurde ab und zu von einem Fischer gejagt, bis sie schließlich gefangen wurde. Dann sind alle Fische umgefallen und lagen auf dem Boden.
Die Aktion hat uns allen sehr viel Spaß gemacht und wir hatten den Eindruck, dass es den Passanten auch gefallen hat. Viele waren an dem Thema sehr interessiert und fanden es gut, dass wir auf die Probleme von Überfischung aufmerksam machen wollten.
