Our crews were chomping at the bit to clear Baker Highway. They take tremendous pride in getting the road clear. The last couple days have been difficult because of blowing snow and high winds. Trees were constantly falling across the road. As much as they wanted to clear the area, making sure crews are safe is priorty one. Making sure drivers are safe when they head to the ski area is also priority one! They are tied for first. ^jh
I was shocked at this scene, since it was so very unsafe. It was a busy scene, with lots of passers-by and no protection if that backhoe were to come tumbling backwards out of this building in the process of being destroyed. Driver was going up a 45 degree slope, with debris a-fallin'. The guy in the white shirt was 3 feet from me.
Safety first? Yeah, right!

The driver of the HART (Hillsborough Area Regional Transit) bus followed instructions to the letter by stopping at the railroad crossing, in advance of the barriers coming down, as Amtrak Train #91 Silver Star approached in the distance. The train has just left Tampa Union Station and is en route to Miami.
