A Brooksbottom batter allows a delivery to go harmlessly through to the Shaw wicketkeeper during a second-versus-first clash in the Greater Manchester Cricket League's Championship division. Cool and damp in the Pennine foothills: not summer game weather!
Shaw, second, ended leaders Brooksbottom's run of 11 straight wins and closed to three points the gap between the title rivals. Heaton, third, are five points back, having played two games fewer than Brooksbottom and Shaw. Surprisingly, Heaton lost at home to Staley. The top two are promoted to Premier League Two, the second tier.
Low scoring game on a wicket rendered difficult for batting by the previous day's torrential rain. Twenty-five minutes' play - during the Brooksbottom innings - was lost to showers. It could've been worse.
Put in, the Summerseat-based visitors nosedived to 26-6 then 62-9. Jack Boyle (3-23), professional Dilanka Sandakan (3-49) and Ben Pilling (2-14) wreaked havoc. Big hitter Zohaib Qureshi (41 not out) spared Brooksbottom's blushes by putting on 33, with virtually silent partner David Brown (2), for the final wicket. Qureshi struck five sixes - three in one over.
Steve Whiston (17) and Brian Lord (11) gave the Shaw reply a solid start with a partnership worth 50. Then, a flurry of wickets left the hosts 62-5 before Lincoln Roberts (21 not out) and Sandakan (13 not out) steered them to victory. Brooksbottom shipped 38 extras. Ridiculous. Medium pacer Mohshan Iqbal took 3-28, spinner Qureshi 2-26. Wayward pacer Stephon Ramdial conceded 35 runs in just 3.5 overs.

God I love New York. I was walking to the subway at 7:30 a.m. this morning, right around when all the parents and nanny's are walking the little kids to kindergarten, when I saw FOUR used needles chilling on the sidewalk next to the trash pile a few yards from my neighborhood park. You know, the place where kids play. Freaking AWESOME. Seriously. I didn't have my camera, so I had to take these pics with my phone. I was really bummed. I've GOT to start remembering to put my camera in my purse!!!!

England id very strict where safety is concerned.
Here a few examples, hard hats.
A tree surgeon, a solitaire cyclist, a biker on the road.
The Safety helmets were somewhere else, loved the placement!

I'm currently working on-site for one of my company's clients. It's a very...umm...different environment than the one I'm used to. They're very safety conscious for one thing. Yesterday, for instance, when I went into the breakroom to heat up my soup, I reached into the drawer for a plastic spoon. I found this sign instead. Apparently the batch of plastic spoons they had received were too sharp. Plastic.
I think this guy will be OK....although Pacific Beach can be a dangerous place...not sure why he was dressed like this going down the boardwalk on a electric scooter
Safety First SHOULD ALWAYS be a truckers mentality, but at times the human mind slips on this and we need those gentle signs to remind us…
STAY OFF, STAY AWAY and STAY ALIVE.

December 24, 2009. Another full day plastering and sanding. Yes, I know the mask should cover my nose too, I just slip it down when not actually sanding or my goggles fog up.
Always wear a helmet! :)
