While out to capture some images on World Photography Day 2024, I meandered downtown Ontario Street in Grimsby, Ontario and proceeded to do a bit of image hunting while in that area. Just off Ontario Street sits the Grimsby Public Library and from the there I looked back toward Ontario Street and spotted a child’s colourful toy plastic lawnmower tucked safely below the adjacent building’s stairs to an upper level. The dark, weathered, near monochromatic wood with its textured provided a nice contrast to the bright, colourful, smooth plastic of the mower. - JW

Tech Details:
Taken using hand-held Nikon D800 fitted with an AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm VR 1:4.0 lense set to 112mm, ISO180 (Auto ISO), Daylight WB, Matrix metering, Shutter Priority Mode, f/4.0, 1/250 sec with an EV-0.33 exposure bias. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon JPEG source file: set final image size to be 9000 px wide, apply Tone Mapping at default levels, use the Tone Equalizer darken the Shadows, use the Graduated Filter tool to darken the stairs are in the upper left, slightly increase Contrast and Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, apply sharpening (edges only), save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: use the Curves tool to pull up (darken) the bottom 20% (approx) and then also darken the top 20% while leaving the mid tones alone, sharpen, save, scale to 6000 px wide, sharpen, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 3000 px wide for posting online, sharpen very slightly, save.
Not for the wee boats , but for 'H' and I! Down here it can get pretty muddy and there's tales of sinking sands drilled into my head from childhood. A quick nip out for fresh air and sunset the other evening, but this was as far as I felt comfortable with 'H' on my own......we can safely do the little jump and a few muddy footsteps from the edge of the promenade - so this composition had to do!

the highest tide for a long time coupled with high winds made for a crammed Whitstable harbour today, many worried fishermen securing ropes to keep boats safe, with one rope even snap cracking before my eyes.....this is really the time when the harbour returns to the preserve of the fishermen, when it's windy and cold the constant stream of visitors that Whitstable seems to attract these days are clearly looking for a safe house.
Bowling Ball Beach is a part of Schooner Gulch State Beach, in Mendocino County, California, in the United States. It is named for the spherical sandstone concretions found there at low tide.

After a high-speed chase, James had finally lost the villains. Before she knew it, Poppy had found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, but right now, as she exited the vehicle, and James tenderly embraced her, and lightly brushed her cheek, Poppy knew she was in the right place, at the right time.
This is the pilot boat going out of the East London harbour to guide a ship safely in. This is a treacherous coast and many ships have run aground,the last one only 2 years ago and before that , not far from what you are looking at, about 35 years ago.
