"Red Lips, Black Eye" 2012

Mixed Media Artwork. 25 x 30cm.

Wood, glass, plastic, felt, canvas.

In this piece I've tried to create visually the disparity between the 'B&W' view of the public (the digital layer) and the media's 'happy ending storyline' (the felt layer) take on the complexities of this issue. I have deliberately put a gap between the two layers which forces the viewer to stand back to line the two layers up and literally 'take a step back to see the whole picture' of a complex and multi-layered issue.

If you or somebody you know is in a domestic violence situation, please call 1800 200 526 to seek help.

See more of my art on Facebook.

I'm a bit late (a lot late really) posting this tonight because I forgot to upload it before we went out to see Avatar. Such an incredible movie, a powerful storyline and the special effects were fantastic! Yay for Weta Digital, those good ol' Kiwis =)

Tweet, tweet!

More film. I hope you like it!

So today I was bored. Then I decided I should learn a piano piece, and thus, To Zanarkand

is the one I'm trying to master right now. It's a beautiful piece composed by Nobuo Uematsu for the JRPG called Final Fantasy X -- the one I'm currently playing on my PS2. :) I know it's an old game, but the storyline and graphics still leave me in awe! It's my favourite FF so far, 'cause I was pretty disappointed by Final Fantasy XIII. :(

This is fan made music video I have been working on for quite some time on and off due to school. I wanted to know what my graphic design peeps thought about this, so I decided to upload a preview of it. The storyline behind the video is showing relationships fall in their own special ways. "Bleed Out", a song by Jason Derulo off of his amazing album Future History, is such an emotional song IMO, and I really wanted to capture the song in video. In this preview, you will see just small snippets of what the full video will be. I hope you like it and please give me any critiques you may have or just tell me what you think about it. This is just uploaded to my Flickr only, as I want to keep the happenings of this video away from YouTube at the moment. :P Plus I want to show my graphic design community another passion of mine, which is video editing! :D I really can't wait to hear what you all think of it!

This lovely "Living Echoes" Set contains the large house, a small house, the bridge, the stairway, the stone fence, the Nimethiel's Statue and Nimethiel's Tree.

I was there, almost four decades ago, when Lord Commander Matthias finally challenged the Vortak Khad at the gates of their tower...and found himself facing some otherworldy fire guardian. How we all got out of there alive I still don't understand to this day...

This is my entry for Summer Joust 2021 in the 12x12 Vignette category. It is also the continuation of a small fragmentary storyline started with my previous entry and a quasi close-up of that model.

A quickie test CGI render of an Army of FRC Grunts, the antagonists of the Prometheus storyline as featured on the Alpha Company Forums. The design was inspired by Carter's NATO troops.

The Aquazone visor isn't an official LDraw part, but I found a usable WIP part definition file anyway.

I made just one minifig, and duplicaed them over another blank file. rendering done in POV-Ray using defaults from LDView.

The slogan was an impluse add-on. I thought it'd be badass.

Total time: 10~15 minutes.

Now, if only BrickArms were available in LDraw as well...

[War in Europe] Location: Great Britain, Brighton

May 15th 2038 10:30AM

After two months of savage, relentless conflict, government forces have taken decisive action within Brighton and further parts of Europe affected by the flooding. During the first month of conflict, government troops suppressed the rebels to the southern district. Whilst suppressed the government began setting up walls and boarders marking off the western district, deeming it a quarantine zone. Upon finalization the government released a statement to the people. “The western camps for shelter of victims of the flood has been deemed by the IPCC as uninhabitable. The area of the western district is severely affected by the floods and the housings that have been established there have driven far from the original motive of accommodation for those in need, to poverty stricken shacks. We see the error in our ways and are now marking off the west side camps for restricted access. You have 48 hours to evacuate to another district, after those 48 hours all those found within the western district will be prosecuted. It is now a restricted area.” After this statement, action was taken, Thousands of people lost their homes and those found remaining were prosecuted but most simply lost their lives.

The west site camps now remain a mere fragment of a lost world . As society crumbles, so do it's achievements, into the wild and unknown.

Gospel Movie Clip | From the Throne Flows the Water of Life (2) - Why Is There Such Widespread Desolation in the Religious World?

Storyline:

Tao Wei was a preacher from a house church. As her church grew more and more desolate day after day, her followers all became inactive and weak-spirited, and her own spirit grew dark. She could no longer feel the Lord's presence, and Tao Wei was confused, at a loss. How had the religious world lost the work of the Holy Spirit? Could it be that the Lord had already returned, and had appeared to do work elsewhere? … As Tao Wei urgently sought answers to these questions, she longed more and more to attain the supply of the living water of life from God. She and her brothers and sisters sought out God's work

and appearance together, and finally came to the Church of Almighty God, where they began to communicate and debate with the preachers of the Church of Almighty God. … Will they be able to find the source of the living water of life at the Church of Almighty God? Will they be able to attain the water of life from the river that flows from the throne?

This is Metal Sonic's appearance in Sonic Rivals, exclusive to PSP as a bonus character, he is unlocked when all other characters' storylines have been completed. His appearance looks quite familiar and the same as he was in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Gamecube) and in Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast).

When we last saw Sir Octavius of Toleburg, he was setting out on his journey to slay the beast, and bring glory to his town.

But what he though could not happen, did! He got lost, after being chased by a pack of bloodthirsty wolves for an entire night! Tired, and sad, we now see Octavius as he stopped by a cottage along the way for food and supplies, the countrymen who owns the house, had an idea as to where the beast resides! He let Octavius know where he suspected it to be, but warned him not to go, as it had been destroying anything in its way, like the legends say.

Another build for the storyline and entry in the LEGO War contest, one more coming before the deadline in a few days!

Be prepared for the final duel between Ocvatius and the beast! :D

From left to right...

Gram: one of the guards of Embervale Castle. A tactical genius by goblin standards, she even seems to have understood what the word "mission" means. Still struggles with concepts such as "observation" or "reporting", but her captain is confident he'll eventually make a sergeant out of her.

Dresghar: the Cultural Attaché of Embervale. A seasoned diplomat, fine literary man and virtuoso lute player. Also a master of stealth, deadly efficient with throwing knives and all kinds of daggers.

Alrune: the Governor of Embervale, by appointment of the Elven Empire. A skilled spellcaster with a degree in necromancy and a deplorable sense of humour.

The Shadowguard: ever heard a story about a creepy kid who has an imaginary friend, and the so-called imaginary friends ends up being a ghost? Well, Alrune was such a kid and had such a friend. And now that friend is all grown up!

Evrart: the Captain of the Guards. A human soldier who pledged allegiance to Embervale because he had nowhere else to go - or so he said. Most of the time able to make the goblin guards follow his orders. Proficient with all kinds of weapons, but has a sweet spot for crossbows.

I know I was only supposed to be gone for 2 weeks. During the family reunion, everything was splendid! All attention was on me. I mean, as it should be, am I right? Things just ended up going so well, I decided to extend it for another 2 weeks. I wrote to Vincent and let him know of the extension. Naturally, he assured me it was completely fine and to enjoy myself. Oh, believe me, I certainly did. I got to meet up with some old friends and we, uh... heh... we had fun running around and getting up to our old tricks and shenanigans. Ah, it was spectacular to be back home.

Plus... it'd give Vincent a chance to see what life is like without me. Knowing him, he spent the whole time either holed up in one place or another and being his brooding self. I mean, everyone knows that Vincent only REALLY comes out of his shell when I'm around. Nevermind that annoying Aiden. .....okay, annoying is putting it lightly. I cannot stand the boy. I won't even give him the decency of calling him a man. I've seen how his eyes linger on Vincent a little too long, how he blushes when Vincent notices something he does or takes interest in one of his stupid little toy projects. What's so interesting about those anyways? What purpose do they serve? They're childish playthings. I'm confident that sooner rather than later, Vincent is going to grow weary of his antics and everything will go back to the way it should be...

Especially now that I'm back home! Vincent is nearly ready to go up in the airship for a fun little ride around. We're not returning to work just yet. But I can feel the anticipation winding up in him and myself! Ah, and the masquerade is in 2 weeks! Vincent must attend mandatorily but I'll be there to help ease the burden of society on him. I'll be sure to dress my best to impress... him, of course. When he sees me, he won't be able to take his eyes off of me.

Vincent summoned me today. It wasn't like his usual summons, though... Typically, he asks me to come to his flat, but today he asked me to come to his office. It's a bit of a pain in the arse, but at least I'll get to see him today, remind him of just how much he missed me.......

That's what I felt and thought until I walked into Vincent's office and what do I see? Red. I see red. I swear, I can feel the vein in my temple about to explode and my heart is pounding. Vincent and Aiden... are dancing? And laughing? Did Vincent not miss me at all? Did he even think of me at all?! WHY IS THAT BASTARD TOUCHING MY VINCENT?! .....keep calm. Maintain composure. Smile. Don't let them see how much this bothers me. Pretend. Deep breath. ........one way or another, Aiden needs to go.

Picture inspired by "I Run For Life" - Melissa Etheridge

It's been years since they told her about it

The darkness her body possessed

And the scars are still there in the mirror

Everyday that she gets herself dressed

Though the pain is miles and miles behind her

And the fear is now a docile beast

If you ask her why she is still running

She'll tell you it makes her complete

It's a blur since they told me about it

How the darkness had taken its toll

And they cut into my skin

And they cut into my body

But they will never get a piece of my soul

And now I'm still learning the lesson

To awake when I hear the call

And if you ask me why I am still running

I'll tell you I run for us all

And someday if they tell you about it

If the darkness knocks on your door

Remember her

Remember me

We will be running as we have before

Running for answers

Running for more

I run for hope

I run to feel

I run for the truth, for all that is real

I run for your mother, your sister, your wife

I run for you and me my friend

I run for life

It's now the turn of the “Marguerite de la Fare” series to be somewhat completed with new photos, which I hadn't initially chosen. Of course, this does not alter the storyline. The additional photos have been inserted where appropriate, in the scripted chronology of the series (see album).

This picture is part of my photographic series "Marguerite de la Fare", which I invite you to consult in the list of my albums. You will find the script in the album header, and by consulting the shots in their chronological order, paying attention to their titles, you can follow the story of Marguerite de la Fare's early years, according to my free interpretation.

Model : Océane

Yeah. This is the end of the line.

I've seen the storyline played out so many times before.

Oh that goes in there.

Then that goes in there.

Then that goes in there.

Then that goes in there. & then it's over. Oh, what a hell of a show

but what I want to know:

what exactly do you do for an encore?

'Cos this is Hardcore.

Pulp lyrics

Jon travelled south, till he reached the desertic area of Tarqa. The road faded out and he soon saw the gate of the exciting city. As he came close he became aware of a guardman...dozing.

"Uhm, Sir? Sir?" John asked aloud. "zZz..zZz..uhm..oh..how can I...uhm, please young visitor do..do not report me to my overseer." "You could answer me a precarious question and I will forget what I've seen", Jon said briskly. "Uhm, I guess so." "I need to get into contact with men, which know a thing or two about...criminal acts."

Option 1: "Ahem, you should visit Omar's tavern," the guardman whispered.

Option 2: "Meet Mustafa, he's the most influential merchant for jewellery and "other stuff"," the guard answered quietly.

This is a Vignette Series with an uncertain outcome: Influence the storyline by voting for your favorite Option in the comments. (Voting from 7pm ECT till 8am ECT the following day.)

Presenting you the next part of the story, I went for kind of a drastic change in climate, hope you don't mind.

Regards :)

Before I begin, I drew this yesterday! Just forgot to post!

Alright, this is a MINOR spoiler for Keeper of the Lost Cities. (Still highly recommended!) It won't spoil ANYTHING in the actual storyline, but there's a few things about it that you learn as you go. So.... yeah.

Another note! If you plan on reading the story, please be forewarned, the suggested age groups are 8-12, but my friends and I agree that at least in book 4 it needs to be higher than that. If you want to know why, you can message me!

Anyways, Sayonara!

God Bless!

To be serious, one of my top-ten super hero movies is definitely Big Hero 6. It has a great storyline despite that it's made for kids. Furthermore the animations are really well done and the emotions of the characters are captured perfectly. In addition all the scenes in the movie are filled with a lot of nice details.

The fact that they used a Fall out Boy song makes everything even better!

I especially liked how they designed Hiro's Workshop. It's full of stuff.

Now with a SuperHero competition on Imperium der Steine I had the chance to build it in Lego.

If you want to see more details or how dusty my bricks are, look at the picture in high resolution

i watched Red Riding Hood yesterday and i really loved it, was my inspiration for the picture. i thought it was a really dark and dumb movie, but it has a very cute love story and a pretty unexpected outcome of the storyline! you gotta watch it! :)

Pan-Asian soldier wonders the neglected outskirts of Tokyo

I'm hoping this can go as part of the Official storyline or something..

For the purge

Enjoy

Equipped with a sword and some supply, Jon moved further south. Observing the surroundings carefully, trying to find signs the captors may have left. Suddenly Jon took notice of an mysterious wayfarer. „Sir, have you seen a gang of villains passing by?“, Jon asked after a brief hesitation. „Some men entered the forest over at the old oak tree. Didn‘t they?...Yes, I‘m pretty sure they did..Maybe not“, he answered while he suddenly continued to walk his way. „Th..thanks, Sir“ John stammered, left alone baffled.

Option 1: „He might be a bit confused but I trust him“, Jon thought.

Option 2: „Nah, I’ll stay on the road, the neighboring town isn’t far“, Jon thought.

This is a Vignette Series with an uncertain outcome: Influence the storyline by voting for your favorite Option in the comments. (Voting from 7pm ECT till 8am ECT the following day.)

A little road breakdown. Credits go to awesome Cesar Soares

Hope you enjoy :)

A great photographer and friend, Craig Semetko, whose name I won't mention in order to allow him to remain anonymous, years ago cautioned me about making a "tourist photograph", which is basically a snapshot made without much thought about composition and storytelling. It was part of how he helped me become a better photographer, but it also become a standing joke between us, because I was pretty darn good at making tourist photographs, which is certainly not an accomplishment. This fall when I spotted these three family members, obvious tourists, all taking a photograph of the same thing simultaneously, I couldn't resist making a bona fide "tourist photograph". I did make sure I worked on the composition a bit and the storyline, well, it's obvious that tourists will be tourists and the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

These are the first trials in a series which will involve all my alt avatars and which I will eventually gather together as a narrative web domain. I am going to try and construct a sort of a tale based upon Shakespearean quotes and sonnets, without a real storyline, loosely woven out of the doings of a group of avatars who love Shakespeare and Rachel Ruysch.

All the poses used are Frigg Ragu's: If it weren't for the narrative potential which these open up to me, it would never even have occurred to me to do something like this.

Excerpt from the plaque:

Punjabi Sheets #3: Birbansian, 1953, 1991

Birbansian is the village in Punjab, India, where Dhaliwal was born. In this installation, she records a tale in red oil stick on a large chalkboard. A series of eggs, some real, some handmade, rest on a ledge below. Dhaliwal writes:

Most of my installations, rich in colour and matter, have no apparent literary thread. There is, however, in the material substance of the work, a telling of tales; half-forgotten storylines rooted in inner landscapes. It is this submerged narrative that links that works thematically. In this case, the narrative is front and centre.

By reading this story told to me as a child by my mother, I reinsert myself into a matrifocal household, appreciating the love the two sisters had for me: the baby who survived illness but then as an adult absented herself from the family fold.

March 6, 2025

A small bomb went off around midnight at a SCYTHE weapons development facility. Five men were killed and three were injured. The local fire department was able to put out the fire before it spread across the whole facility but around 15 million dollars of equipment was severely dammaged. Thus wasn't a testing accident, it was definitely sabotage.

Starting a new storyline soon, these 2 will be the characters.

it’s friday evening. i am w/ghosts & they’re morphing

into morphine scenes, the color in off-white walls.

several times i forget which of them is speaking

& which storyline they expect that i’m keeping. i’m dreaming.

i’m peeling off in layers on the ceiling. the seasick queen

waves to the feelings i’m seeing. they’re not talking anymore.

so i check the windows, check the door. i light the stove for warmth

& wait there for hours, thinking of the songbirds i’ve stifled.

the flowers i’ve grown & admired, petals sharp like a rifle.

This is my first figure inspired by the factions of World in Darkness! None of what I will be posting holds weight in the actual storyline or impacts faction standards, it’s just me running wild with the awesome universe those guys are building. This figure is a member of the AKU Partnership which is a faction created by the legend himself, Michael Willhoit. Michael also gave me the idea to use the new BA pouches on the coat as pockets which turned out super sick!

In every room & in every floor, there is a storyline to be told, heard, seen or there is even emptiness...

Okay, so this is a different sort of entry for me and I'm still trying to figure out how it's going to go. What you see above is a bit of a character entry; an introduction, if you will, to a story arc I'd like to build over the next few months.

Was messing around a, and thought this was upload worthy (I also really wanted to use that title/desc :P)

Just some side notes,

Guys in the 253rd, I would love it if you could get your entries for 9.3 up by this coming Sunday, if you need more time please let me know. Also feel free to let me know where you guys want to go next, I was thinking Muunilinst, but I also remember seeing Kashyyyk and a snow planet floating around the group, I promise will get them all eventually.

And for any of you, that would like to experiment with the castle theme, I highly recommend the Lands of Rowia group, they're a great bunch and currently lacking members and it would be a shame to see the group die, (latest installment: merlins-beard.com/thread/1559/global-storyline-path-desti...), so yeah, feel free to go check them out!

(not really sure how I feel about advertising stuff here :P)

Happy Halloween guys and as always C&C is appreciated and TFVAHAGD!

Lighting was on point for this picture :D

On September 18, 1990, I took this shot on the west side of Oconomowoc of an eastbound freight running wrong main past a ballast train just after noon that day. In the photo, Tom Farence (right) stands alongside Ron Kaminen on Soo 2407 with Art Danz standing on the concrete remains of Chaffee Road Bridge. All have given a run-by inspection and have waived goodbye and safe travels to the conductor in Soo caboose #93.

I got to know Tom not in the typical face to face setting, but through email via good friend Dan Longley who knew Tom personally. Tom first helped me with an article I was writing on the Milwaukee Road's September 1968 wreck of the XL Special, and more recently as I work on a new one.

He remembered a stunning amount of details on the XL wreck, having been directly connected to it as he was assigned to bring a crane in to assist with clean-up. To no one's surprise, Tom had his camera in hand that day and shared with me some black and white images he took when he arrived.

As we emailed back and forth, it struck me; at 50 years removed from the 1968 wreck, his memory was simply amazing....names, details, times, places, even things that happened afterwards. His recollections brought a whole new level of storyline depth to my article of which I was ever so grateful.

So, like others here, I wish condolences to Tom's family and pray they find peace in this time of sadness.

Glad to have known you Tom, even if it was in a non-traditional way. Thanks for the memories (literally), the stories, and of course the photography that brought alive the inside workings of Milwaukee Road to the rest of us. Goodbye, Godspeed and rest in peace.

The Psychology Behind Why We Love Horror.

Fear isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Some people will spend money for the love of a scare, many would run in the opposite direction. So why is it that some crave all kinds of frightening experiences?

One reason we consume horror is to experience stimulation. Exposure to terrifying acts, or even the anticipation of those acts, can stimulate us — both mentally and physically — in opposing ways: negatively (in the form of fear or anxiety) or positively (in the form of excitement or joy).

Another reason we seek horror is to gain novel experiences. Apocalypse horror films, for example, allow us to live out alternative realities — from zombie outbreaks to alien infestations.

Lastly, horror entrainment may help us satisfy our curiosity about the dark side of human psyche. Observing storylines in which actors must confront the worst parts of themselves serves as a pseudo character study of the darkest parts of the human condition.

A bitter cold climate dominated Thorhaven, asylum to jobless sailors and criminals of all kinds. Transshipment point for stolen goods and even slaves.

As Jon wandered through the city, he spotted a tied boy carried by a man utterly dressed in black. He sneaked closer and listened: "25 Guilder , my final offer!" "It's a boy in best condition, you got to be kidding!", the man, presumably Cassius, shouted. Jon thought:

Option 1:"I'm going to sneak over and cut the bind, on the quiet!"

Option 2:"Enough is enough, time to show Cassius, that he can't do whatever he wants!"

This is a Vignette Series with an uncertain outcome: Influence the storyline by voting for your favorite Option in the comments. (Voting from 7pm ECT till 8am ECT the following day.)

Hope you enjoy :)

Our Daily Challenge: Can't live Without -- I gave today's challenge a lot of thought. What is it that you truly can't live without? Once upon a time, I thought that I knew the answer to this, but as it turns out, i really didn't. I've been given this incredible life. I thought that the storyline was settled, that all I had to do was continue upon the same path, and all would be well. Life has a way of changing things up a bit, and with the death of my husband, the life that I had chosen, the one that I couldn't live without, was gone. I had to re-invent my life, start over, and look to within myself to find that which I could not live without, and interestingly enough that which I cannot live without, is me. We all have stories, we all have personal tragedies and triumphs, but what we really need, is to find peace within. Yes, you can exist without finding peace with yourself, but you really can't live. With inner peace, not only can you live, but you can enjoy all that life gives you such as the moments of beauty just after sunrise this morning.

Thank you so much for your views, comments and favs. I really do appreciate every one!

You can probably make up your own story from the build.

Recently I was contacted by Dyroth asking if I wanted to help him in some unofficial purge builds and of course I said yes. If you didn't know my old account was Redness and I absolutely adored the theme then so it was really fun to make this small diorama over the course of about a week.

He also made an unofficial purge group for those who still enjoy the theme and want to continue to storyline: www.flickr.com/groups/2962557@N24/
