This car competed in two races at the Vintage Sports Car Club’s meeting at Oulton Park in June 2005. It’s John Seber’s 1935 Wolseley Hornet Special and has a six-cylinder inline 1,630cc supercharged engine. There's a Wolseley Hornet Special Club for owners and enthusiasts.

My Moos arrived today! They are so tiny and adorable! I love them:)

Flickr mail me if you'd like me to send you some!

I must say this is one of my favorite figs now I just love how he came out. Again inspired by Shobrick. Now to the fig: His vest is mostly made out of e-tape except for the pouches which is part of a AMA vest and I had to showcase my new mod that I made not too long ago that you have already seen BTW(the working ARC mod, if you want to see it look at the third pic of this guy), but this time the silencer is detachable!

enjoy!

Minox B, for 8x11 film

A completely new world to me, those Minox cameras seems to live in a parallel universe. There are enthusiasts, organized in clubs and societies, celebrating the 8x11 format. And because 8x11 is special, there is special accessory, not only tiny flashes and tripods, also developing tanks, enlargers, slide projectors, the complete program. Also the camera design is remarkable: There is only one aperture, you always take pictures fully open. If it is to bright, you can reduce the light with a built-in gray filter. Surprisingly the camera has no fix-focus lens, which I expected for that small film format. Instead you can focus down to 20 cm, which is pretty close-up (9.8 x 13.5 cm). So you can easily copy a A5 sized paper - now you may think of the camera's image as "spy-cam", yes, the secret services were very creative to hide those cameras in lighters, etc.

Some more specs:

lens: Complan 3.5/15

fully mechanical shutter, 1/2 to 1/1000 s, B and T

Selenium exposure meter, coupled,

14 to 26 DIN ~ 25 to 400 ASA

parallax compensation, bright frame

PC-socket

built-in gray filter, yellow-green filter

frame counter up to 50 exposures

chain with marks for several distances

The Minox B was the last common version with mechanical shutter. It was replaced by the Minox C with electronically shutter and automatic exposure.

I've seen photos taken with a Minox with a pretty good image quality. No wonder, there are ultra-fine-grain films with ASA 25 available.

The built quality is just extraordinarily. The Germans know the word "Handschmeichler" (schmeicheln = to flatter) for a small object which gives you a good feeling in your hand, like a smooth stone or a polished piece of wood. And yes, you enjoy just to take the camera in your hand and move your thumb along its sleek surface.

With Chevy's Celebrity and the Pontiac 6000 dropped from GM's FWD midsize A-Body platform, a low priced Special package (sedan and wagon) was added to the Century starting in the 1992 model year. A driver air bag was optional on the 1993 Special series and standard on the Custom and Limited. A Custom coupe was also available (in its final year), with the Limited available as sedan only.

A-Body production was based in Oklahoma City starting in 1982 through the end in 1996, with wagons following in 1984 (assembly plant closed in 2005 and now an aerospace production facility).

Special constables were out in force on Friday 15 November 2013 to highlight the vital role they play in police operations.

Over 50 special constables from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) assisted throughout the day with various operations across the North Manchester area. They targeted the small groups of people who bring harm to our communities.

There was a large element of proactive work undertaken coupled with high visibility reassurance patrols, especially during the evening.

Special Chief Inspector Michael Walmsley, who coordinated the resources for the day said: "This is a way of highlighting the varied work that special constables undertake within our communities. The additional police resources provided by the special constabulary were utilised for intelligence lead operations and executing warrants.”

The special constabulary are trained volunteers who provide a valuable link between the public and the police, having the same powers, training, uniform and equipment as regular police officers.

Chief Superintendent for North Manchester, Nick Adderley, said: “The commitment and dedication that our specials have to policing is inspirational. Their volunteering provides additional police resources to keep our communities safe.

“Being a special enables individuals to gain hands on experience in dealing with challenging situations, something they may not encounter in any other career.”

There was also a recruitment event at The Arndale Centre running from 10am-6pm where people could find out more information about becoming a special constable in GMP.

Rob Kelly has been a special constable since January 2012. He described his experience: “As a retired Fire-fighter. I needed to keep busy, so what better way than to give something back to the community and serve as a special.

“I really enjoy the variety of jobs we go to, working with great people and good friends and working within a neighbourhood policing team gives you the confidence to go out and help the public."

For more information on becoming a special constable please visit www.gmp.police.uk or email special.constabulary@gmp.police.uk.

Franziss Special (1928:1918) Engine 8200cc

Race Number 229 Roger Sweet

Created by owner driver Roger Sweet, in the traditions of VSCC aero engined specials. The is a Franziss Special believed to be powered by a Curtiss OX aero engine and a Frazer-Nash derived chassis.deriving its name from the donor Frazer Nash.

The OX-5 was the first mass-produced aircraft engine in the United States. It became available in 1915 and used in various capacities through the first World War. The engine was a water-cooled, 503 cubic-inch (9-liter) unit weighing 390 pounds and was capable of producing 90 horsepower. It has a distinct feature - its rockers are exposed allowing for the components to be observed while the engine is running.
