The atmosphere is complicated up there

This is certainly not what I started out to do, but I try going with the flow. In this case, we have a cosmic ducky. And if you know anything about me, the visual impact of the image is what I'm after. As in life, reality is secondary.

Stephen Hawking’s A Brief History of Time explains that one travels from the past towards the future in the space-time of one’s expanding universe, without contradicting the thermodynamic, psychological and cosmological arrow of time.

Three millennia earlier Homer sang that all mortals face death (Odyssey book 11).

As we are all time travelers towards the inescapable future of death, religious Faith takes over. Faith chooses to cease caring about the increasing entropy: in God we trust for He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14, 6). A cemetery is merely a luminous time machine towards Him, as plain and simple as that. God is not limited by any dimension, not even time’s!

**First Contact - New Build from Tardis Vampyriad**

Who knows what happened on Ross128b, Earth's 2d-closest habitable neighbor? Secret attempts to colonise the world in the 21st Century were discreetly abandoned, leaving mysteries for future visitors to unravel. When 23rd Century space-archeologists arrived, there were reports of strange, new discoveries...

First Contact is for explorers, Space/Time travellers (NLS T80), movie-makers & RPers. It will get bigger, and the mysteries will unfold -or deepen. Who knows?

According to this theory there must be a universe where I am still thin and have dark hair.

The multiverse is the hypothetical set of all universes. Together, these universes are presumed to comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, energy, information, and the physical laws and constants that describe them.

So why am I stuck in this one?

well, thats what it made me think of anyway! not that I understand anything about such stuff, just a notion of a mixed up visual metaphor that makes a title.

We've not long returned from our first big family holiday in Singapore. One of the highlights was the ArtScience Museum. Alas, this image is just a phone photo. A simply amazing space.

Time away with the family - totally heart warming.

100x: Things that warm the heart

Shooting out the front window the other day as the snow was falling on the Sorbus tree. I'd been trying to get an interesting angle on it all through the late Summer and Autumn, but I never saw anything I hadn't seen so many times before. I love the big clumps of snow floating down softly in varying degrees of focus.

HBW to all, and to all a good night!

Some people have a scientific mindset. Many more have made science their religion. Usually the same kind to whom you have to be either or - scientific or religious.

Religion is not the same as the belief in a form of higher power, e.g. God, not the same as being spiritual. These things can be a religion, but so can many other things - pretty much anything, really. The word religion has the same root as ligature or ligament, it's something that connects, something intended to keep you stable and upright and strong. That can just as well be a sports, a specific sports team, a hobby, a political view, or indeed science, or a particular view within the vast umbrella term of "science". It's not that there is consensus among every last scientist after all, but neither is there among all the various denominations of the faiths, of course. Props to scientists for not going at each other's throats over this at least.

My point is, I don't know if God exists in any way shape or form. I have my views and beliefs, but no way to prove any of them. That's why they are "beliefs". However, the same applies to most higher scientific concepts. I, as an ordinary person, can prove them neither true nor false. I don't have a space station at my disposal, nor a hadron collider, nor an electron microscope. I've never seen an atom or a DNA helix, I've never witnessed a photon transition from wave into particle state. Those animations you can see in every other documentary of how celestial bodies exert gravity in accordance with their mass, by warping the space time continuum - for all I know they might as well be a video game. Movie magic. All I'm left to do is choose to believe or not to believe what people who claim to know better tell me they've found out. Same with the words of preachers and whatever scripture someone might come up with.

Something else I noticed a few times: The harshest critics and most hardcore followers of (for example) the Bible, both tend to look at it the same way: They take it strictly literally. I once posted that point on Reddit, and sure enough some smartass came up, saying like "according to book and chapter so and so, Jesus did this and that (I've forgot what it was, let's say walk over water), which you hopefully agree is nonsense." Yes. It is nonsense, we were in perfect agreement there. Only, his statement was meant to prove wrong my point about people taking it literally.

And don't even get me started about Dunning Kruger. It's true more likely than not, and it's absolutely fabulous. I noticed that a lot when talking to head-heavy people about astrology. Always triggers them. "Star signs? Yeah of course, because there are only precisely twelve types of people and personalities. Don't be ridiculous!" No. The first rule about astrology, without which nothing else works: The whole chart matters. Every human being has every star sign (or archetype, technically) in some place of their horoscope, interacting with the others in several different ways, through planets, houses, the four corners of the chart, aspects, nodes, what there all is. There aren't just twelve horoscopes. There are, at this point in time, about 8 billion, and hardly two of them are exactly the same.

None of that is to say that astrology is above all criticism or leaves no questions unanswered. Or that Darwin, Lesch and Hawking are out of the window. But that right there, is how Dunning Kruger is so fabulous: When two sides of an argument disagree, it must invariably be the other who has fallen victim to oversimplification. It can't possibly be your own. Even if the discussion is about a topic you never looked into for even a few minutes.

But at least you've found an academic sounding way to call someone an idiot, so I guess there's that.

FIVE FLAMINGOS flying through SPACE & TIME .

...jenseits von Raum und Zeit...

Now, in Russia (Inner Russia in my case, as well as in case of all my friends and those children, my possible would-be friends), we live in really strange ambience. As if several different worlds or presents, that couldn’t intersect (like, to say, several physical bodies couldn’t be at the same point of space-time) mixed up pretty bizarre. I’m delivery boy, as many of you know, and so, contemplating my home town for hours almost every day, riding my bicycle, my Midnight Special. There’s a lot of people in khaki, especially at restaurants, from where I deliver food, and liquor stores, where I buy booze. Some men are without arms and legs. Some of them are begging. A lot of very stylish youngsters, mostly in black. Very popular color in Russia now, as I could see. Green hair is very popular, too. A lot of graffiti “No war!” on the walls and even in the elevators. Some people wear pacific, which is high risk in Russia. Some – t-shirts with symbol z, St. George ribbons and Russian tricolors, which are the symbols of support for the government as well, though less aggressive, then z. And we still have a lot of freedom, real art and music, as in the precious moment, depicted at this photo.

It might be July here in North Wales but somewhere in the folds and curves of the space-time continuum it's always Febrovery.

Florence central station (Santa Maria Novella). As I explained in the first upload in this series, the architects of this station (Gruppo Toscano) had the shrinking of space-time, due to the modern railway system, in mind. If we could travel by almost the speed of light, such shrinking would also involve significant shrinking of time--time goes much faster: a 'time warp'. The phenomenon is symbolized in this shot: the figure walks from a (stupendously preserved!) 1930's modernist environment straight into a contemporary commercialized space.

The Pipiwharauroa / Shining Cuckoo fly so fast that they distort space/time. I lost track of how many hours I spent photographing them

For the techo's and purists among us, I used my artistic license and applied a radial blur to the background just for fun!

A spider trying to tear through the fabric of time and space? or am I imagining things, again?

Forte dei Marmi - in summer time the Mediterranean beach is smoothed to a perfect surface for the rows and rows of sun beds and umbrellas, for the lucky ones who are able to afford a day long rental

Bergen train station's clock with the mountain Ulriken and it's broadcasting tower in the background.

NERD ALARM ON!

There are many elements in this that gives me associations to good old Albert's theories, hence the title. The clock of course, then there is the grid of the window (space, frames of references), the tower on top of the mountain which is the source of what the theory tells us is the fastest thing around and the sphere is like a planet bound to follow the curvature of space it's star creates (clock now doubles as the sun ;-).

Add to that the shot is taken at an train station: Einstein used trains in some of his thought experiments to explains his ideas.

NERD ALARM OFF!

London Underground.

“Darkness comes. In the middle of it, the future looks blank. The temptation to quit is huge. Don't. You are in good company... You will argue with yourself that there is no way forward. But with God, nothing is impossible. He has more ropes and ladders and tunnels out of pits than you can conceive. Wait. Pray without ceasing. Hope.”

THE ARTIST (AGAIN)

I am emptied; devoid of all emotions

motionless; sunk into the softest mattress

cushioned from the world

reclusive and alone

no distractions; I listen to the outward sounds

to quieten my mind and inner voices

I listen to the ticking of the mantel clock

and to the spaces inbetween where heaven is

I listen to the sound of the ocean lapping on the shore

it comforts me and lulls me into a dream-like state

my eyelids feel heavy, but I can't close them both

one of them is bruised and swollen;

the colour and texture of ripened grapes

sweet juice oozing and beading on the surface of the skin

a soft sheen glistening; a loud bang makes me jump

before I settle with a sigh back into the verge of unconsciousness

he's gone; the door slamming was a relief

I listen to the sound of the birds; twilight is approaching

they seem to get excited around this time

like they are saying goodnight to each other

the dawn chorus is the one everyone talks about

but more beautiful than that is the chorus of the golden hour

those precious moments before the sun slides down the globe

and into another land where it begins to rise up to greet the day

I wondered was there a quantum slipstream

of space-time continuum

when the sun was alone in the darkness

was there a pathway between where night meets day

I wondered what that place would be like

what extraordinary powers existed

that could block out the sun

albeit for some brief moments in time

or what if time did not exist in this imaginary place

perhaps this is the place where all things mislaid go

all those odd socks; keys and other little mundane things

which bring a little comfort to our everyday lives

I blocked out even these small thoughts

thinking only made me more aware

of the pounding in my skull

my brain felt that it was too big to be contained within

pulsating at the temple on the right side of my head

I could feel the blood pumping to protect me

it felt warm and comforted; a natural defence mechanism

how marvellous the body is at repairing itself

and thank goodness for that; mine was overtaxed

every few weeks or so had narrowed now to every few days

the shouting; the moods; the artistic temperament of the Artist

I didn't yet call myself this; I didn't feel like being labelled

and I didn't recognise anything in me

that would make anyone think I was one

He, on the other hand, The Artist; He was the real deal

tortured and tormented some days

and charming, charismatic on others

I never knew what his moods would be; he was unpredictable

at first this had been exciting; I loved his passion for life

for his art; all this spilled over onto me

and at first it had been exciting; oh yes, I said that already

I am repeating myself; my thoughts need checking

and bringing into line;

I tried to block out all thoughts once more

the headache continued to thump rhythmically

at least my pulse was now steady

and consistent as it pounded away

I listened to the night settling around outside

and watched as the darkness crept into the room

slowly enveloping me in it's claustrophobic cloak

I wasn't afraid; how could I be afraid of the dark

when it was the day that brought most terrors

the birdsong was tailing off now as they roosted

In the darkness I could hear the tide turn

I know; you may think it's too subtle to be heard

but let me assure you it is possible

and I heard it now; the turning of the tide

for the Adriatic and for me

the end of the road; how clichéd I had become

my mind once so desirous of knowledge

that no amount of reading could quench my thirst

now I had become empty-headed

the only thoughts when he was here

were his thoughts; his words;

entering my brain with a loud tangible thud

not much difference between them

and the blows he had landed before he left

I wanted to yawn but I felt my jaw was broken

I could feel the blood that once was warm within me

congealing now; cold upon my cheek

my nose was numb; broken again

tears rolled down my cheeks, but I couldn't feel them

until they fell from my chin

the window was open

and a gentle breeze flowed in from the sea

I followed him here to Venice; to The Lido

I thought it would be exciting and it was

but now the excitement was no longer pleasurable

I heard the door opening downstairs in the hall

I groaned; the sound of an animal but it was me

I heard his footfalls on the stairs

he called my name, but it wasn't him

and at last I was saved ...

Telepathic/holographic/hyperkinetic/warp-speed mosh in simultaneous dimensions and space/time configurations, so that a good time is had by all and there are no injuries.

Researchers at Cornell University studied similar events on Earth and discovered that computer simulations “dominated by flocking parameters produced highly ordered behavior, forming vortexes” - being precisely what one would expect of advanced beings exuberantly congregating and confabulating in a black hole.

And never mind the music of The Spheres! Heavenly!!

It was so cold that the sun and sky were frozen and iced up.

Poem.

Salmon-pink sky, silhouetted headlands and an islanded, silver-studded lake branded by the sun.

Five and twenty miles away, virtually lost in the evening ozone, the islands of Eigg and Rum fade upwards in the glare, to oblivion.

Here on the northern slopes of Morar, sheep graze, unmindful of the blinding, dazzling sunset.

Pine-fringed islands lead the eye sea-wards where a two mile river gushes the lake into Morar Bay – a white-sand haven.

Here at a five hundred foot elevation the path turns northwards linking Morar – a nearly fjord, to Nevis, a real fjord.

Mountains interspersed by east-west stretches of sea-water typify this remarkable coastline.

Bounded by fifty beaches and islands the perspectives are breath-taking at every twist and turn.

A shimmering haze suspends the senses, time seems to slow and the moment stretches, like Dali-esque “floppy” clocks.

Space, time and reality blur and merge, soothing the senses.

The moment passes, but for that moment,

Karma, Nirvana, Paradise.

Einstein's theory of special relativity created a fundamental link between space and time. The universe can be viewed as having three space dimensions — up/down, left/right, forward/backward — and one time dimension. This 4-dimensional space is referred to as the space-time continuum.
