SP 5623 leads the NCRY 4th of July train out of Sunol, CA to Pleasanton, CA passing by SP 9010 and its SP caboose.
A Westbound train led by SD40R #7368 passes Milepost 588 at Garnet, CA on the East of Beaumont Hill in October of 1987. The consist includes Rio Grande GP40-2 #3110 and a NHL leasing, ex-Burlington Northern SD45.

Kukulcania sp., sometimes called a crevice weaver, coming out of her burrow at night. She looks a bit tarantula-like, but actually isn't closely related to that group. These velvety spiders do share one trait with tarantulas, though -- apparently the females continue to molt (shed their exoskeletons) even after they're mature, which I had thought was something only done by tarantulas and their relatives. This is a different female than the other pic I posted. Anza-Borrego Desert, California; thanks to Marshal Hedin for the find and ID!

Всю прошедшую ночь питалась лунным светом...
Но на самом деле все было не так поэтично. Луна настойчиво светила мне в глаз через темную претемную штору и заснуть удалось только под утро, когда эта гавнючка закатилась за горизонт. Обычно отношусь к луне положительно, но всему есть пределы. Но, самое удивительное в том что проспав всего-то немного часов, нынешний день удался, и настроение отличное. Загадка какая-то.

A single shot of a wonderful Female Lasioglossum Bee I found on Monday, I originally thought this could be an Osmia sp. However, looking at other images of these species online, now I'm unsure of the actual species, the eyes don't look right. Any help appreciated.
Maybe a Lasioglossum species??????
She kept landing on the stone wall of Wilford Bridge and every so often I could get a few shots, I did manage a few stacks, but for the moment I really liked this single shot. They really are one of the prettiest Bees I have found to date :o)

I didn't see too many of SP's SD70Ms on Tehachapi but I did catch 9801 and sister 9807 along with a CSX unit at Woodford in August of 1997

An SP drops down the hill from Hiland with an all SP consists. When this shot was taken 6 of 86 that was pretty rare. Most trains had some sort of pool or run through power in the consist.
