There are around 25 species of harvestmen to be found in the UK, usually they are nocturnal but a few are day-active like this one seen here. They may resemble a spider but harvestmen are in fact arthropods and unlike spiders harvestmen have only one segment, are mainly omnivorous, do not have any venom glands or silk glands. The name Harvestmen is said to have come about because they are meant to be most conspicuous in the fall at harvest time although they are also most commonly known as Daddy Longlegs.

Thank you everyone who has taken the time to view, fave or comment on my photo. It is very much appreciated.
A quartet of brand new Southern Pacific B39-8E's with the 8019 leading the 8016, 8017 and 8018 head Eastbound at Colton Crossing in November of 1987.
A Southern Pacific westbound container train passing the coaling tower at Mescal on October 6, 1994. The SD40M-2 leading was originally an SCL SD45. Not at all complaining about this train at all but it was difficult to get what you wanted on the SP during this era. On this day alone, I shot an eastbound here at the coaling tower that had a decent SP leader bu had a CSX U-boat second out. Not what this easterner was looking for. Another westbound had typical SP ratty power and another had that as well being a full train of empty trailers, .

Not sure of the specific name for this Beaufortia, The foliage is different to most of the others. Small shrubs and beautiful when in flower and quite drought resistant.

The only opportunity that I had to shoot Southern Pacific's short lived fuel tender, the SP #700 was at the W. Colton fuel rack. Seen here next to a trio of visiting Union Pacific SD40-2's in January of 1987.

Former Southern Pacific SD70M 9805 was parked in UP's former CNW Proviso yard in 2001, patched as UP 3979.
It soon would see the standard UP yellow and grey.
