UP 6290, one of the few remaining SP-painted AC4400's leads the MDMHN westbound on the UP Kansas Sub in Topeka. This is at MP 67, right next to Porubsky's, and it'll soon hang a left onto the ex-RI Golden State Route. For added interest here, SD60M "triclops" #2414 was fourth out in this consist.
I was on the bridge between platforms at Llangollen station waiting to photograph a steam train arrival when I noticed a very large pair of eyes looking at me. The station is right next to the River Dee which is undoubtedly the source of this mayfly.
Macrolepiota sp. Same specimen as No.621 alongside on my photostream but photographed the following day. Refer to tag "Before & after No.26". Cap is now 7 cm across. My block.
Pluteus sp. Caps to 8 cm. On decomposing Fig tree. Barron Gorge National park, above my block.
Pluteus granularis?
This evening, I was able to track down the SP-painted UP 6378 leading a rerouted IDULB through the West Bottoms. The train was running via Parsons due to the stacks that got blown off of the bridge in New Mexico ( www.chron.com/news/us/article/Tornado-destroy-10-homes-in... ).
Here it is approaching Santa Fe Jct., where it'd hang a left onto the E-W KCT mainline.
