This sawfly - either T. brevicornis or more likely T. notha - was taking nectar from a wild carrot flower in Thurstaston Country Park.

UP 6379 leads the GSPFRM-03 through CP Z067 in Topeka, KS on 2/5/23.
This one caught me by surprise, as I had come out to photograph the train two ahead of it, and as I was on my way home, Cade let me know that this was headed my way. Yeah, I definitely had to turn around and get the shot. There aren't many SP-painted engines left running, and to get one on the point, when you're already out with the camera, and there's (kind of) sun is a win all around.

A lot going on with this SP-SSW Bi-Cen. painted tunnel motor besides the sweet paint job, the usual SP appliances - the light package, the high mounted horn and bell, nice "L" shape windshield as she get vital fluids at the El Paso, Tx. fuel pad on April 21, 1977.

Think the genus is right, but with so many similar species... could be P. rufipes, but...!

SP 8704 leads an 86 car Chicago to Roper manifest freight through Riverton, Utah the morning of May 31, 1996. SD40M-2 No. 8704 was built Chicago & North Western SD45 No. 916 in March 1967.
Continuing with pictures taken around Tehachapi on January 11, 1997 here is a Trona-bound coal train led by 3 SP AC44CW's circling up the loop at Walong.

Found in the underside of piles of wet plant remains that were removed from the Itterbeek, along the Itterbeek towards the canal.
Could be E. lapponica.... but then it could be something else entirely!! A beauty in any case!
As I moved the stick it was on further into the light to try to get a better shot, it immediately disappeared back into the shadows!
