Nu de dagen van de treinstellen type Icm (koploper) geteld zijn is het een mooi moment terug te kijken in welke uitvoeringen dit treinsteltype gehad heeft. Deze collage geeft een overzicht van vele van deze uitvoering, maar zeker niet alle uitvoeringen.
ICM 4004 als intercity van Nijmegen naar Amsterdam komt door het voormalige station van Maarn gereden op weg naar Utrecht.
Now that the days of the EMU’s type Icm (Koploper) are numbered, it is a good time to look back in what versions these EMU’s have had. This collage provides an overview of many of these versions, but certainly not all.

Otiorhynchus sp. (possibly opulentus) weevil found in an afternoon in the Retezat mountains. Active and tricky but I've had luck and enough patience to mess with him.

Such pretty little beetles! I fully expected this one to either do a geronimo or fly off, but for once, it stayed put!!

Coprinopsis sp. Cap on largest is 3 cm. across. Uncommon. Refer to tag "Coprinopsis sp. 21" to see others of this same specie. My block. White "dots" on caps are called sporophores.

A pair of freshly rebuilt SP flares are trailing on Conrail freight PIEL at CP WOOD in Homewood, PA on August 7, 1994. These were rebuilt at Mountain Top, PA as I recall. There were quite a few of them that passed through Western PA on the trip back to the SP.
Gerronema sp. Looks similar to Gerronema strombodes from the southeast of U.S.A. & from Central america. White spore print.

This was Southern Pacific's 7:59 Lackland Yard job crossing Adie Road in Maryland Heights, MO. I'm glad I shot this, but man is some of my old stuff composed quite boneheadedly. Rather than shooting more of the train with the context of its surroundings, I often focused more on the power. And while SP's Yard jobs in and out of Lackland were like shooting fish in a barrel, I did not focus on them as much as I did some of the more mainline action around town. The times I did catch them were nevertheless well spent. You won't see any SP GP9Es crossing this street anymore. Even the trackage here has been changed around a bit. This is now operated by Missouri Eastern Railroad and their gaggle of GP15s. At this time SP ran three Lackland jobs, a 7:59 am and 3:59 pm to switch local industries, and 11:59 pm job that functioned as a transfer to SP’s main yard in East Saint Louis. They also handled a twice weekly local to Union, MO and a once a week unit coal train to and from Union Electric at Labadie, MO. These were fun times indeed, but the end was near, and about two to three years later came the era of ETTS for railfanning in general. Once the SP and ATSF were gone, there was not much point anymore.
